As Salamu Alaikum,

I have fantasized upon an event of a simple but spectacular demonstration of faith for a long time.

In as much as the Qibla is the spiritual pole for the entire globe, the point of reference for all our salat, it would be fitting to have a prayer for peace performed simultaneously around the world in every mosque and masjid.

Fill all the mosques and masjids with the ranks of the faithful!

Put out the call for peace. Encourage all to attend. Break Eid attendance records! It would be a somber message to the world populace, that over a billion people of the faith are praying at precicely the same moment toward Mecca!

Numbers do make the difference!

A carefully prepared statement, a Khutbah so to speak, composed of contributions from Imams around the globe would be released to the press upon the occasion... a call to peace, a call to respect Islam, and a prayer for the cessation of all hostilities.

And should this fantasy come to pass, the organizers could respectfully invite the Pope and the billion or so followers to perform a special service for peace on that day also. And ,why stop there! Invite people of all faiths to hold prayers and vigils of peace on that day.

Preferably the time of this event would preceed the advent of the oncoming war!

The power of peace is the highest form of Jihad.

That's a nice gesture.
Besides that, What else are you prepared to do to achieve peace?

It is a real force.

It is an act with intent to ask our Creator for His help. His Help comes in many ways, but we as individuals must focus our attenention on Him. If you know anything about the battle of Badr, you will know what I am refering to.

Thank you for your thought and response. The power of Peace is a force that few people realize. If they did, this world would be a different place

Peace

Here's what I found in the Qur'an about 'calling for peace';-

047.035

YUSUFALI: Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.

PICKTHAL: So do not falter and cry out for peace when ye (will be) the uppermost, and Allah is with you, and He will not grudge (the reward of) your actions.

SHAKIR: And be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand, and Allah is with you, and He will not bring your deeds to naught.

AL-HILALI & KHAN: So be not weak and ask not for peace (from the enemies of Islām), while you are having the upper hand. Allāh is with you, and will never decrease the reward of your good deeds.

'Allahumma antas-salaamu wa minkas-salaam!'

'Oh Allah, You are peace and from You comes peace!'
