To Volunteer at a Drugs Line

Opportunity to do some work in the voluntary sector to help those in need of guidance and counselling. The problem of drug abuse is plaguing Muslims and non-Muslims alike. This project is looking for volunteers from all ethnic communities, Muslim and non Muslim. Sadly it is the Muslim youth in particular who are increasingly becoming the victims of drug and alcohol abuse.

Being a volunteer involves answering Drugsline's Crisis Line and provide support for people with drug and alcohol related issues, their families and friends. There are daytime and evening courses, and full support will be provided. The crisis line operates from Drugsline Crisis & Support Centre in Gants Hill, Essex.

Applications from Urdu, Bengali and Gujarati speakers are urgently needed. Previous experience is not necessary. For an application pack please get in touch with the Muslim drug abuse support co-ordinator for the London Borough of Redbridge.
