Yeah lol I agree with you this country is too crazily expensive (even though I been living here all my life ). Especially if you have a car! InshaAllah you will do well on your course.
May Allah make it easy for you and give you tawfiq, Ameen!

I know how you feel! We took a short vacation there a couple months back and when I went to pay my credit card account when we came home it was
London is an extremely expensive city, at least compared to New York and Washington.

London is more expensive compared to the rest of England too, not just abroad. It's like a whole different world to us northerners, and up north is different to the londoners.
best advice is, what sis Anna said and in UK just buy what you need like food toiletries if you run out etc, and if you do want to give yourself a treat or like something, stop doing the conversion and just buy it. If you're going to keep thinking of money you'll end up not buying anything or feeling guilty. and ofcourse, keep your budget in mind
But, to be fair, London is a wonderful city and we're already planning our next trip back. It's worth it. I think those of you who live there are really lucky.

The city itself is gorgeous, not too sure on the urban housing areas. The lucky ones are those who live on the outskirts of London or the incredibly posh expensive areas. Otherwise London is an incredibly hectic and busy place with numerous one ways, no entries and double yellow lines everywhere (ie no parking). However, alot of people like living in this kind of environment...so..hmm..abit  for me.
Coming from a small and close knit town in Yorkshire I don't think I could live in a place like London...or if I had to I don't think I would be happy. Poeple tend to be alot more rushed, selfish and isolated too.
Although now thinking about it, London has the most diversity and there's always something going on like islamic events, events for sisters etc and it's nice to live in a community that has muslims and people from a variety of backgrounds. Where I live its mainly Indian muslims and a few pakistanis, then there are the english and let me tell you..up north racism is very bad :(
People tend to be alot more tolerant down south.

inner city london also has its benefits cos u dnt have 2 buy a car or nething, and everything is soo convenient like jst walk out of ur house for 2 mins and u hav a highstreet & all ur necessities whereas further out and up north its not so much like that

Yes, well admittedly we didn't have to worry about the housing situation and parking and things like that. We stayed in a hotel and either walked or used the tube. So that was easy!

it's a very pleasant city as a tourist, I love visiting London, the old buildings and english architecture everything is just so beautiful. It's a nice city to visit in both summer and winter. All capital cities seem to have this majestic feeling to them I don't know how to describe it...just thinking about Paris too and I get the same kind of feeling.

Well, I think we've talking the poor OP's thread sufficiently off-topic. :o
I meant to write a thread about all the things my family loved in London. I should do that.
