Don't shampoo so often. If you have a flaky scalp it could be from excessive washing away of the natural oils that your scalp produces. Try to cut down washing your hair using any kind of hair product to once a week. At other times, if you really feel the need to wash it, use plain water.

Apply some olive oil to your hair about 30 minutes before you wash it and this will condition it beautifully.

Apart from that, try to avoid brushing your hair too much, use a comb to detangle and keep your head covered in extreme conditions such as hot weather/ sun, rain, wind, snow etc etc.

Ok, I'll try that because I have a scorching case of dandruff. I used to have long hair (almost a ponytail), and I would go through a bottle of hairgel a week. When I shaved my head, my scalp was red.

Head and shoulders is rubbish and Nizorel does get rid of dandruff but when I was using it, it stripped the hair until it began to look like straw. The absolute best remedy that I have found to be most effective and am using to this day, is Dabur Anti dandruff lemon and henna shampoo. Asian supermarkets such as Quality foods or Sira in Southall sell it. It not only gets rid of the dandruff, but unlike Nizorel, the hair itself becomes healthy and doesn't get stripped dry. Also bear in mind that conditioners are best used to condition the ends of the hair and shouldn't be used on the scalp area itself.

Massaging the scalp with tea-tree oil is meant to be very effective.

Get a piece of Aloe vera from the plant. When in the shower, scrape it against the scalp. Should do the job inshallah

check your diet its usually a lack of vitamin A and C that causes flakey scalp and can cause dry skin and exema too. u need pre-formed vitamin A found in meat, milk, eggs and cheese, and animal sources, & u also need pro vitamin A rich foods, betacaratene found in carrots. Also vitamin C rich foods like lemon, limes, oranges, cantaloupe melon, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, kiwi fruit, sweet red peppers etc. you will notice a difference insha Allah within a couple of months, in the meantime try tea tree shampoo its usually very good for dandruff.

( and u say usuing head and shoulder increases it .. does it irritate your scalp it is sore or red looking at all ? if so u maybe should get your scalp checked at the doctor and make sure its not psoriasis, it looks a little like dandruff but it doesnt just brush out of the hair it sticks to the scalp and hair, and wont be shifted by any sort of shampoo it can be made worse by stress and needs medical attention and a change of diet again because some foods like citrus fruits and pineapple, will irritate this condition.)
