Assalaamualaykum,
Every year alot of people are in a dilemma when it comes to buying an Eid gift for friends and family. Therefore, I thought I would make a thread regarding this issue.
Users can post comments which include a gift suggestion and who the gift can be suitable for.
example:
Sister/mother/any female friend: Book about Hijaab and a headscarf.
Father: socks
I hope you get the gist of it and I hope many users will participate so by the end of this month we can look back on this thread and have a variety of good gifts to choose from for our family and friends, inshallah.
Jazakallah khairan for taking the time to read this post.
Assalaamualaykum.

Most people (me included) prefer a gift that has taken a little thought and is something personal to that individual. It doesn't have to be expensive...it could be hand made. It's the thought that counts.

Man if someone gave me a nice watch, i would jump for joy, i got to many nice watches though but i would love one as a gift.
Eid should be a good opportunity to think of those less fortunate this year especially considering that a lot of us come from poor countries where people struggle just to get by. If you have relatives who have very little to live on, consider getting them something nice and use Eid as an excuse otherwise some people don't like to accept help cos' they're proud. Women and children often like to get nice clothes- I'm not sure about men though.

Me n my husband are buying a Wii for EID!!! :hidban:
Funny cuz we got a xbox360 like 6 months ago n already we're bored of it.
Then my husband bought me a pink nintendo DS about 3 months ago and I'm already bored of it.
So, naturally now we want to buy the Wii... I wonder how long this entertainment will last..
<sigh> That's consumerism for ya...
Hey look over there-- PS3 lowered their prices by 100. Add one of those to the list too!
(Oh yea and buying all new clothes is a MUST!)

I know I know. Well my husband makes video games for a living so it's no wonder we have to have so many lol. We usually give away our old systems to relatives. We had PSP too but he gave it to his younger brother. I think the PS3 (after the 100 drop is 500 now) My husband still thinks that's too steep, but he says when it drops another 100 we gonna get one.
I personally don't find it worth it to have all the different one's. I like video games but I am happy with just my Nintendo DS :inlove: He likes to get the different systems cuz video games are his work n passion lol.

LOLOLOL The funny thing is right after I posted the last post, my husband read it and came n told me "We're not gonna be bored... Halo 3 is about to come out." HAHAHA I don't like shooting games.
I play Yoshi's Island, Mario (any and all), Donkey Kong Country, Crash Bandicoot... basically I like the "cute" games... My husband bought me Viva Pinata that one's pretty cool too...

I used to find buying Eid presents such a hassle and you just knew that what you ended up giving (DVD, perfume etc) was nothing special. So here's what I do now- I give charity gifts like school equipment for poor children, eye operation etc. Frankly, people in this country are generally fortunate enough to not need what you are giving them and what you are actually giving them with a charity gift is a gift that they can use on the day of judgement!!
But with any children in the family I would also give them a small gift of money/ toys in addition as they tend to appreciate material gifts as well!
Oh I love Mario and Crash Bandicoot games. :hidban:

You see I can't write my ideas for gifts cos certain people may see them and it will spoilt the surprise :D
But what I usually do is observe, listen and monitor the said victim for months up till Ramadhan and then I get them something I know they really wanted even though they don't know it themselves sometimes :p Who gets a buzz out of seeing someone open a prezzie and have a huge grin plastered all over their face? :D :p

well I bought the blanket from Sainsbury's and then in white rose center (a shopping center in Leeds) there's a small stall where they do embroidery, so I got it embroided there.
However if you know other people who do embroidery you could do it by them. Or there's a lady in blackburn who has blankets already and will do the embroidery too, she has a website-
http://www.hadiya.biz/products/blankets1.html
but it's really simple to get it done yourself, buy a blanket, find someone who does embroidery and done.
thats a cute blanket :inlove: ^

I'm abit strange, I still haven't gven my bro and his wife their eid gifts. Thy've come for 3 days from Gloucester to spend eid with us. I thought Id give them their gifts when they leave because I didn't want them to buy me something during their stay :o my mum keeps saying 'give it to them!' but im like noo i;ll wait till they go.
Theyve just bought a house with help of parents and theyve got a mortgage to pay, plus the house is stil being renovated and basically theyre living in a building site doing it up as the wages come in, I really wouldn't want to put them in a position where they feel they have to buy me something so I;m waiting till this evening loll
