[UQP] Surah Naba ~ The News

In the name of Allah, the All Aware, the Preserver

Surah Naba, the first surah in the final juzz of the Quran. Topics cover heaven and hell and "the news"..to find out what the news is..learn with us insha'Allah.

Before we begin, we should seek refuge in Allah from shaitaan the outcast and purify our intentions to be solely for Allah SWT.

3 ayaats will be posted everday [some days it will be one ayah split up]. No other posts in here, just the ayaats. The ayaats will be posted, 3 ayaats in arabic, the english tranlisterated below and then once again, the english translated below that and, and the 3 ayaats broken up from Tawfeeq Sayagh for memorisation and tajweed [put this on your MP3 player and listen over and over]

Also, arabic word from each ayah will be highlighted in ahmar and the corresponding word in english highlighted in red aswell. This is for 2 reasons; to try to teach even a little bit of arabic and also, if you know the meaning of the keywords in the ayah, its easier to memorise the ayah.

Ibrahim Jibreen recomended as is the Ghamdi and the Efaasy version being slower, good for tajweed. Sao'ood Shuraim also recites this surah nicely.

[Abu Muslimah]

عَمَّ يَتَسَاءلُونَ

`Amma Yatasā'alūn
What are they asking (one another)?

عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ

`Ani An-Naba'i Al-`Ažīm
About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.),

الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

Al-Ladhī Hum Fīhi Mukhtalifūn
About which they are in disagreement.

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Kallā Saya`lamūn
Nay, they will come to know!

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
Thumma Kallā Saya`lamūn
Nay, again, they will come to know!


أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَاداً

'Alam Naj`a3li Al-'Arđa Mihādāa
Have We not made the earth as a bed,

وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَاداً

Wa Al-Jibāla 'Awtādāa
And the mountains as pegs?


وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجاً

Wa Khalaqnākum 'Azwājāa
And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.)


وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتاً
Wa Ja`alnā Nawmakum Subātāa
And have made your sleep as a thing for rest.


Surah Naba, verse 7, 8 & 9:

وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاساً

Wa Ja`alnā Al-Layla Libāsāa
And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness),

وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشاً

Wa Ja`alnā An-Nahāra Ma`āshāa
And have made the day for livelihood.

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعاً شِدَاداً

Wa Banaynā Fawqakum Sab`āan Shidādāa
And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),


Surah Naba, verse 10, 11 & 12:

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجاً وَهَّاجاً

Wa Ja`alnā Sirājāan Wa Hhājāa
And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun).


وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاء ثَجَّاجاً

Wa 'Anzalnā Mina Al-Mu`şirāti Mā'an Thajjājāa
And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water.


لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبّاً وَنَبَاتاً

Linukhrija Bihi Ĥabbāan Wa Nabātāa
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations,


Surah Naba, verse 13, 14 & 15:

وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافاً

Wa Jannātin 'Alfāfāa
And gardens of thick growth.


إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتاً

'Inna Yawma Al-Faşli Kāna Mīqātāa
Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time,


يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجاً

Yawma Yunfakhu Fī Aş-Şūri Fata'tūna 'Afwājāa
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups);

وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاء فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَاباً

Wa Futiĥati As-Samā'u Fakānat 'Abwābāa
And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates,


وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَاباً

Wa Suyyirati Al-Jibālu Fakānat Sarābāa
And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage.


إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
'Inna Jahannama Kānat Mirşādāa
Truly, Hell is a place of ambush,


Surah Naba, verse 19, 20 & 21:

لِلْطَّاغِينَ مَآباً

Lilttagheena ma'aba A dwelling place for the Taghun

لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَاباً

Labitheena feeha ahqaba They will abide therein for ages,


لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْداً وَلَا شَرَاباً
La yathooqoona feeha bardan wala sharaba
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink.


Surah Naba, verse 22, 23 & 24:

For some reason, it doesnt allow me to highlight the lasy ayah in arabic in red. So " wa laa sharabaa" means "nor any drink"

[Abu Muslimah]

إِلَّا حَمِيماً وَغَسَّاقاً

'Illā Ĥamīmāan Wa Ghassāqāa
Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges.

جَزَاء وِفَاقاً

Jazā'an Wifāqāa
An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes).

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَاباً
'Innahum Kānū Lā Yarjūna Ĥisābāa
For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning.


Surah Naba, verse 25, 26 & 27:

وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّاباً

Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Kidhdhābāa
But they belied Our Ayat completely


وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَاباً

Wa Kulla Shay'in 'Aĥşaynāhu Kitābāa
And all things We have recorded in a Book


فَذُوقُوا فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَاباً



Fadhūqū Falan Nazīdakum 'Illā `Adhābāa
So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment.

EDIT: Again, ayah 30 isnt letting me hihglight so "ila adhaaba" means "except in torment"

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازاً

'Inna Lilmuttaqīna Mafāzāa
Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise)


حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَاباً

Ĥadā'iqa Wa 'A`nābāa
Gardens and grapeyards;


وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَاباً

Wa Kawā`iba 'Atrābāa
And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age;


Surah Naba, verse 31, 32 & 33:

وَكَأْساً دِهَاقاً

And a full cup (of wine).

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْواً وَلَا كِذَّاباً

No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying;

جَزَاء مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَاء حِسَاباً

A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds).

Surah Naba, verse 34, 35 & 36:

رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرحْمَنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَاباً

(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Beneficent, none can dare to speak with Him (on the Day of Resurrection except after His Leave).


يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفّاً لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرحْمَنُ وَقَالَ صَوَاباً

The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right.


ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ فَمَن شَاء اتَّخَذَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ مَآباً

That is without doubt the True Day, so, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)!


Surah Naba, verse 37, 38 & 39:

إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَاباً قَرِيباً يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَاباً

Verily, We have warned you of a near torment, the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"

Surah Naba, verse 40:
