do you not have a router at home? if so is that not wireless? if not you could just by a wireless access point. This will give you the wireless function. The plug the brother mention in essence doesnt give you full freedom in that you still need to connect a cable to what ever room you go into..i think the wireless access point is the best way to go..

this should do the job

I second that !

Get a wireless connection.

If you have broadband at home. Just get a wireless router attached to it.

get a wifi adapter usb for your laptop and your ready to go.

Believe me its annoying as im not aware of it much but once u get started it can be fun !

Its all about wifi !

You have to buy that sis.

I bought 1 recently from maplin. Just pop in your local electric shop and ask i need a wireless router for my broadband. ( price range £20-40.00 )

When you get it ' follow the instructions on how to install it.

Thats just the beginning and protecting the network is another issue.

Its tricky but fun.

I personally would not get a wireless, I guess because I'm too paranoid about me (someone who is not a hacker) being able to break into an encrypted wireless network in about 10-15 minutes.

Plus wireless stuff has issues if you have lots of electrical stuff in your house like mobile phones, portable phones, microwaves etc etc.

Plus it's expensive

As Salaamu Alaikum,

What is the name and model for your Router/Modem?

And does your laptop have wireless capability already built in, or does it require a Wireless PC Card?

yes wireless capability will already be in there. In that case, this (http://www.adslnation.com/products/xstation.php) is all you need to get. For £30 it's quite cheap. And the website's Customer Service is absolutely superb.

You wont need a new router im pretty confident ur current modem will suffice, you just need a wireless access point which should cost £25-50 and your sorted as for security its not too much of a worry 10-15 minz is unrealistic (i,ve tried hacking takes a couple of hours...) but yea regardless it should be cool and is prob the easiest option. where is your modem currently situated?

It's not that big, it's just a picture in perspective view [smile] I think it's one point perspective.

With the same price you can get a new router and modem built in. Although an Access Point would help increase/strengthen your broadband single. But it's just one more box attached to the existing set-up.

An 'Access Point' would be an addition to your current set-up. Working in conjunction with your modem/router to give you a Wireless Signal. Or it can be used to increase the strength of an existing signal that is weak. A weak signal could be because of barriers such as walls, distance travelled etc.

This is a relatively simple, concise and straight forward book. Leaving out a lot of the unnecessary jargon, and things that the end user doesn't really need to know.
