View Full Version : Leaving For Umrah...NEED ADVICE
By this time next week, Insha'Allah, I will be on a flight from the U.S. to the holiest place on Earth. I cannot describe how anxious I am.....I am so anxious that I feel that I will forget something or be unprepared for my experience. In these next 7 days, I will try to think of all the details that I need to plan for. But I need your help......please let me know if you have any last minute advice that can help me on my journey and my time in Mecca and Medina.
My plan so far consists of a flight from Detroit to Chicago, then a flight from Chicago to Amman Jordan where I plan on putting on the Ihraam then boarding a flight to Jeddah. I am travelling alone, but my Uncle will pick me up from the Airport and we will head straight to Mecca to perform Umrah. I plan on spending 3 nights in Mecca before travelling to Medina. Then, 3 nights in Medina before coming back to Mecca for the final 3 nights. the last two of which will be during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Insha'Allah.
:salams masha Allah mubarak on your trip, insha Allah u have a safe trip and benefit greatly from your journey sorry i dont have any tips never been myself. may Allah bless your travels amin.

Masha'Allah, what a blessing it is to be invited to the house of Allah.
that's great, you're very blessed to spend your first days of ramadhaan in the haramain, it's gonna be awesome Insha'Allah.
erm... tips... erm...
make lots of du'aa. make the most of your time there in ibaadah.
read up on the significance of the holy sites, so when you make ziyarah of them you can fully come to appreciate where it is you're visiting and the events which took place there i.e places like mount hud, arafat etc.
I went from amman to saudia too, if you're staying overnight in a hotel try and get your own food because jordanian breakfast isn't all that tasty (no offence to the jordanians)
Jazak'Allah for the advice. Definitely very important to remember. My time in Amman will be very very short. My plane lands at 7:00pm and I need to be on the flight for Jeddah by 7:40pm. Is that reasonable amount of time to switch planes? Will my luggage be able to switch planes that quickly? These are some of my logistical concerns at the moment, it also looks like I will have to put on the Ihraam on the plane to Jeddah. Does Royal Jordanian have accommodations in there planes to allow travellers to change? Will they make an annoucement? Insha'Allah everything will go smoothly so that I can focus my attention on Umrah and ibaadah.
Please du'a for me that everything goes ok.
do what my sig says ;) make dua for your brothers and sisters :D and inshallah you will be rewarded for wanting the best for your brothers and sisters :)

sorry for my late response.
that should be a reasonable amount of time, shouldn't take you that long to locate and collect your luggage Insha'Allah. just make sure you know where you are going and if you're not sure at any point, ask someone, that way you won't have to go on a wild goose chase looking for your luggage and the gate number you should be at. there should be people that will be going the same direction as yourself so don't worry Insha'Allah.
on the jordanian plane... hmm...I can't quite remember if there are changing rooms you might just have to change in the toilet or something, they do provide praying facilities I remember that much, I must warn you that they serve alcohol on the plane which isn't very pleasant! they have the screen at the front with the radar which points towards the distance of the ka'bah, we were fasting at the time, i don't quite remember if they announced anything but we took our own iftaar with us.
Insha'Allah, ask the staff, they're very helpful...
keep us all in your du'aas Insha'Allah.
