Do's:

Make sure you have a copy of the OS (you will need to license and cd key so find it first)
Make sure you backup all your work
Make sure you download drivers for your internet connection (if needed)
Get your virus/firewall software ready before you format
Save your bookmarks
Find all your software CDs before you format (office etc)
Don't forget to backup the other users work/files/folders/bookmarks etc

Don'ts

Miss out the Do's above ;)

Apart from 2, 5 and 7 the above only apply for windows >,< :p

I would use a linux livecd and the installer that comes on it to reformat the hard disk...

If you wanna install windows after formatting you can always use qtparted/gparted on the disk to format or cancel the installation after the partition stage

True! And I didn't mention the headache of installing all your apps individually, then updating them individually on windows.

The linux version

Do:

Backup everyones work
Stick in the linux CD
Once installed, select your chosen apps and install in one go
Once installed, update everything in one go

Don't:

Install windows

Get a mac ;)

Assuming you have the CD key for windows xp/vista. I think that is it. Especially if you have reinstallation cds, they should cover everything, unless you install your own software after, which will not be in the reinstallation cds.

I think ive lost my internet software cd.

Damn :torture:

1. Find another computer to borrow.

2. Go to www.apple.com

3. Get a Mac

4. Plug it in

:)

But if you insist on banging your head against the wall with windows, what Internet software are you looking for? What type of Internet connection?
