OK, I have a movie in AVI or DIVX format, I can't remember. What I want to do is take an excerpt/clip of about 5 minutes from the film and post it on youtube. How do I do that?

thanks in advance.

you'll need software like adobe premier or an opensource alternative.. Avidemux. (http://www.osalt.com/avidemux)

Open the video in there and crop it down to the clip you want.

If you have Windows, Windows Movie Maker is your best answer. Like Elji said, you need cropping but Windows Movie Maker can also shrink down the size of the movie in accordance to the limitations of YouTube. You should also search if there is the same excerpt on YouTube itself before you try doing this :)

You need a splitter programme. They have thse for MP3s they can be brought online, and if u look really hard you can get free trial ones.
