help needed to upzip and save an exe. to a disk

:salams trying to save a programme to a disk, have win xp, have unzipped it and trying save it to a disk but when unzipped, it doesnt recognise the application, and comes up with a box asking which programme i want to open it with... the sytem that im loading it onto is win 98 any ideas... :jkk: salams

akhi trying to get a laptop going that has a wireless pc card adaptor, with bt voyager 2100 programme downloaded it from thier website, unzipped it, computer doesnt recgonise the programme though, and i need to copy it to a disk to load it to the laptop insha Allah

oh..maybe they have a different version for win 98

cos some xp programmes dont work with win 98

do u mean the bt programme is for win 98 and so it wont open the zipped file on a win xp comp.

is there any other way to get this programme to a disk maybe just copy the whole zipped file, to the disk, this is what i wanted to do originally but its not happening :S

insha'Allah sumone with better knowlegde will come in here soon :o


but theres several scenarios here me thinks

1) programme has not downloaded properly and teh file is faulty

2)ur unzipping programme is not working

3) the disk may be the problem (what type of disk is it?)

4) its for xp/98 and doesnt work for teh other..


erm u cud try putting the zip file onto disc and then unzipping it on the win 98 computer..sorry if im confusing ya :S

what discc are usin? is it a normal cd?

u shud be able to do it like u normally write a cd..

sah just have a normal cd i went to copy the programme to disk , by right clicking on the file, and going to "send to" and sending it to drive E ( which has in it the the blank disk) then it asks me to reformat , so reformatted it to data, but it wont copy it to the disk :S

oh is it a rewritable cd?

have u got a different cd u can try?

Wa Alaikum Salaam,

Can you list the files that you have unzipped, including their extensions (.exe, .dir etc.). It may be that the program is designed to AutoRun from disc, and can’t be installed via Hard Drive.

Also you might want to get yourself a CD/DVD writing application, such as Nero, CloneCD etc. They are much better than trying to use windows to copy onto disc.
