Salaam Alikum.

Every now and then, something happens that makes me angry. For example, yesterday I was at work (a grocery store) and I go outside and get shopping carts that people leave outside. The person who was scheduled to get them before me didn't get his carts because he's always busy talking to customers. He doesn't do much work, just socializes with people. Because he was busy chatting with customers, he didn't get carts, so I had to get dozens of carts and bring them in while it's very hot (95 degrees fahrenhite here in Florida), so I was exhausted, sweaty, dehydrated, and more because the co-worker didn't get his carts. I was very mad at him and said without thinking that he should be fired. I didn't say it to the coworker, but I said it to another worker. I wasn't thinking clearly and I was mad because I have to do extra work because he decides to do no work.

How do I deal with anger? In any situation, whether it's racists saying that I deserve to die because I'm Muslim, or co-workers who make me do extra work because they don't do anything, or my adoptive parents who say cruel remarks about Islam in front of me ("prove to me Allah exists", etc).

Anger is from Shaitan (spelled correctly?), and I want to control myself. How can I deal with anger?

:salams bro Wolf

Bro I'm sorry to hear that you are Sad. Insha'Allah try to be patient (I know its easier said then done), but Allah says in the Quraan that there is ease after every Hardship: "Inna ma'al 'usri yusra" - Verily with hardship there is relief (The Quran: Surah ash-Sharh (94:5)). You are being tested, and the prophet (saw) said that:

“Whenever a Muslim is afflicted by harm from sickness or other matters, Allah will drop his sins because of that, like a tree drops its leaves” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

People aren't treating you well, which causes you to get angry, there is nothing wrong with you feeling angry thats human nature and you have feelings. What is wrong is only if our Anger starts to take hold of us and controls us or causes us to do injustice and I'm sure u havent done either. That guy who's not doing his Job is wrong, Tell him that ur not going to be doing his work for him anymore (politely). Don't speak to others about him, take him aside and be honest with him.

I am sorry that your in this hardship, but you will see that one day you'll get through this and look back on it and it will be a distant memory. It's sometimes hard enough being Muslim and coming from Muslim families, you have to deal with your non-Muslim Family that isn't supportive. You inspire me and I'm sure so many other Muslims on this forum the love you show for the Deen and how you practise your Islam regardless of all the obstacles in your way, you keep over coming them and coming out stronger. You bring so much enlightenment to this forum mashaAllah. :)

I really admire your strength.

This life is a test Bro, Remember our eternal home, Jannah. Where there is no Pain, no suffering, No disease, no Dying. The prophets (as) were tested so much more then we will ever be tested. I want you to read the Story about Prophet (Ayub) (as). Whenever I feel down, and I have to deal with death, or Hardships I read the story of Prophet Ayoub (as) It boosts my Imaan instantly and I feel soo grateful that Allah didn't inflict that Much pain and Suffering on me. It really Humbles you, you shud read it bro.

Several Cures for Anger from the Sunnah

1. To say "Audhu billahi minashaytanni'rajim."

2. If he is standing, then he should [B]sit. If the anger fails to subside, then he should lie down. [Abu Dawood]

3. A person should remain silent. [Imam Ahmad]

4. Make wudhu. [Abu Dawood]

5. Make ghusl [Abu Nuaim
