Congratulations :)
Try wearing it on a day you're going out with a few other Muslimahs who wear hijaab, you won't feel like you're sticking out then.
You could wear it to the mosque for Jummah, then go shopping or something afterwards with friends and keep it on. :D
Say bismillaah before you wear it and say a little prayer - never underestmate the power of du'aa.
Don't worry, I know loadsa people out there who were just like this, and they felt cool and comfortable with the hijaab almost the day they wore it and never looked back since. Remember you're doing it for Allaah and so there's big reward in it for you! :)
Were thinking of you, sis :hidban:

Asalaam Alaikum
Remember sis that everything you do in the Name of Allah subhanawat'Allah brings you one step closer on the path to Jennah insha Allah. Fear not those around you, just fear Allah.
Dont keep thinking about it - just go ahead and make the change for the better then concentrate on keeping the adjustment :) Go and buy one in your fave colour/material etc and then you will really want to wear it.

Another thing to remember...
It may be hard at first with your friends, family, colleagues seing you and they all comment on it and you may even get comments from them such as "Why now are you deciding to wear it?" Especially if you come from a family where a lot of women don't wear it.
BUT the important thing to remember is that reaction will only come the first time they see you wearing it... after that, they get used to seeing you in it and no longer comment, it just becomes part of who you are.
Good luck inshAllah. And like the sis said never underestimate the power of duaa. When I first started, I remember I woke up and prayed fajr and made doaa that Allah gives the strength to wear it today and never take it off.. and ever since.. :coolsis: <--- that's me :)

Oh my homeeeeeeee :( You will make me cry. I was raised there since I was 5 and my family is all there and that's where I met my husband (he's from there 2) and that's where all my friends are. (Yea lots and lots of hijabis and masajid and islamic schools and ahhh ya rabbi take me homeeeeeeee)
Right now I live in Los Angeles with my husband cuz I had the bright idea of going to UCLA and I still have one more year. We hate it with a passion and are counting the days to go home inshAllah...

Stop hatinnnn and gay people live everywhere not just SF... and as long as you stay away from Castro district then that really isn't an issue. But anywayz, I wasn't really referring to SF the city nafsu but rather the area around it called Bay Area. But nonetheless lay off that hateraide. jk jk

My 2 favorite places in Cali:
Los Angeles and Berkeley. It just doesn't get much better than these cities.

Berkeley is
But dude what are u talkingggggg about? LA IS WEAK!!!!!!!! I hate it with a passion. I count the days 2 be out of this horifically filthy place...
1. LA people don't know the meaning of good halal food. In fact every restauarant I have been tohere has had poor quality food.
2. The Muslim community is just kinda odd, unfriendly and spread-out. THe only time I see hijabi girls is in MSA or at Disneyland.
3. 15 minutes on 10 or 405 takes about an hour in traffic (even on saturday- someone please explain to me why is there traffic on sat??)
4. No pretty places. I am a newlywed (6months :inlove:) I wanna go to pretty places and walk hand in hand... I dont wanna go to a dump every night.
5. I never saw a man wearing a yamulke in my life... here in LA they are everywhere u turn. When there are more kosher places than halal in an area, that means no good. And Did I mention they are Zionists?
6. I probably already have lung cancer from all the smog. I used to clean the window sill in the Bay like maybe once a month... here you clean the window sill and the next day it has a thick layer of soot.
7. Scholars don't come close to our Nor Cal scholars... Imam Zaid, Suhaib Webb, Sh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Amir Abdul Malik, Hafiz Saddiqqi, etc
8. No Summer Days where they rent out Six Flags for an only Muslims Day extravaganza like they do in the Bay.
9. All the fake people, fake blonds, fake... u kno the rest.
10. Dodgers, enough said.

thanks for all your advices, i dnt know why i still cnt seam to do it i jus get the feeling if i wear it at work evey1 gona think what happned to her or summat like that i jus feel very akwards in takingthe step, i dnt really associate which people and there are hardly any muslims around where i work and live :(
Most people dont even comment on it! They just look at you longer and then get back to what they were doing! :D
Try baby steps if its too hard any other way. Try wearing it just to the shops, then to town, then from and to work..and then eventually at work :)
