Hey salamz.. dont worry too much..

from the top of my head.. u could..

try not to buy junk food... tell urself off everytime u do :S

tell ur friends and family to help u keep away and constantly tell u not to eat it..

think about how happy u'd be if ur clothes were loose..

think about the harm the junk food could do to ur health..

look at some pictures of what people who eat too much junk food look like n ask urself do u reeally wanna be like them?

u'll be fine inshaAllah.. best of luck and i hope the things i said are useful :)

take care

What do you mean "always" How much do you eat every day? Measure how much you actually eat. If you aren't gaining weight you obviously aren't eating too much, 'though you may not be eating properly. Check on your eating habits- when you eat, what you eat etc. As a practical measure, use chewing gum, if you're allowed to or carry fruit around with you to chew now and then- cherries are very good now and it'll soon be the apple season.

First thing is to not have junk food in your house. If it's there, you WILL eat it.

Try fasting. You need to break the cycle. After you have eaten healthy for a while, the thought of bad food will turn you off. Fasting will also healp you control your nafs, and nafs is the root of your problem.

eat enuff to be able to support urself,
eat from a smaller plate
cut down portion sizes
onli have takeaway 1nce a month unless it is healthy subway like the veggie delite or tuna ;) but dont add cheese or mayo thats fattening :nono:

eat 2-3 portions of grilled/baked fish like tuna, salmon, haddock, cod but with no batter/breadcrumbs

drink a tall glass of water before meals, it will fill u up and have a large salad too.

Replace your junk food with alternatives.

Baked or boiled potatoes instead of chips, grilled chicken instead of fried chicken, dried fruit and nuts instead of crisps, juice instead of fizzy drinks, have chocolates and crisps as a treat, once a week or twice a month and buy the healthier (baked) versions.

First of all, If you're a size 10 then I doubt very much you look fat/flabby.
Maybe you just need to buy new clothes! :) First work out whether you are depressed coz of the way your body looks or because you keep eating junk food.
If you keep eating junk food try to replace it wth dried fruit for example - very yummy and not fattening! Be sure to get lots of different things so you have so much new variety you that you won't have time to miss eating chocolate and crisps :)
If you're not happy with the way you look then take steps to change that e.g exercise but PLEASE BE CAREFUL. I say this because if you start exercising because you want to be thin and then get addicted to doing this and are never happy with the size you are it can lead to major problems, like anorexia. Take it from someone who knows anorexics that it will ruin your life and that of those around you. So please be careful :) Obviously if you're overweight (and be sure you are and dont just think you are) then you need to lose but otherwise as long as you are healthy I would say be happy with who you are and the body Allah has given you and just look after your body by giving it what is good for it and not putting in stuff it doesnt really need like extra crisps and chocolates.

Assalamu Alaykum,

MashAllah you've given yourself the first bit of advise, you've recognised it and you know that it is making you depressed > Recognise It, Know It!

The reason you probably feel depressed is because of all the junk you are eating, it is not giving anything that helpful to your body, such as vitamins and minerals. Basically, you are what you eat. Your insides wont be very happy with all that junk, its not doing it any good, so really, its probably why you are feeling the way you are !

Perhaps you can replace chocolate and crisps with fruits, but do not deprive yourself all in all of chocolate etc. You could treat yourself with something 'nice' if you've stuck to not being a junkie and being bit more healthier (every 3 days or something). Eat full meals 3 times a day so it wont make you 'snack junk'! Try to make your meals balanced, not too much carbohydrates, not too much of one type of food. Rather balance it all!

Oh and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day - You'll be healthier, flushes out the body !

Happy Eating :D

You can't spot reduce fat... meaning you will burn fat from all over the body.

Try cardio exercises. The 'spinner' (cycling) classes at your local gym will help. They last for an hour, and burn 100's calories.

Don't drink coke etc. only drink Pepsi Max, Coke Zero and the diet stuff. A can of normal coke has at least 7 teaspoons of sugar. You wouldn't put 7 sugars in your tea would ya. If you don't burn it off, they'll turn into calories, and then fat.

Don't eat after 7pm.

If you are a size ten, you don't need to lose weight.

If you need to get fit, exercise. If you are eating an unhealthy diet, instead of trying to eat less, try to eat more healthy food, particularly filling stuff like starchy carbohydrates (wholegrain bread, rice and pasta) and lean protien foods (fish, chicken, beans, pulses) and fresh fruit and vegetables (fresh is more filling than dried but both are healthy) - this way you will be far less likely to want to snack on unhealthy foods all the time.

If you are trying to live up to the completely unnatural body shape promoted by the kaafir fashion industry, don't.

Sisters only, please highlight the white text below.

Women are supposed to have curves, the fat around your hips is supposed to be there (obviously way too much of it is unhealthy - but at size ten its impossible to be close to an unhealty level of fat) those fat stores are to enable you to have a healthy pregnancy and to breastfeed babies whilst still having sufficient energy to keep your own body healthy inshaAllah. You are also supposed to have fat on your tummy, it is there to protect your womb as the baby develops inshaAllah. Again, too much fat on your tummy is bad for you but at size ten you can't possibly have too much fat there. An easy and reliable method of assessing if you are too fat or not, is to measure round your waist when you are relaxed. Multiply this figure by two. Measure your height. If your waist x 2 measurement is greater than your height, inshaAllah you probably need to lose weight so see a doctor, dietician, reputable organisation like weightwatchers for a weight loss plan. If your waist x 2 measurement is less than your height, then forget about losing weight. Just eat healthy and exercise moderately inshaAllah.

The kaafir supermodels and skinny celebrities have to live on a dangerously meagre diet and do excessive exercise regimes to maintain their body shape. In addition consider the fact that many kaafir fashion designers are gay men, and they design clothes for tall skinny people without feminine curves.

Carbohydrates such as bread pasta and potatoes contribute to excess weight in the tummy area from what I have heard. They do make one bloated too.

ukti, it sounds like to me something is stressing you out or depressing that makes you eat. i recently just came out of my over eating habits about a week ago. for 8 months straight i was just eating everything in sight. as a result i gained about 20 pounds. then i realized why i was eating so much because i was going through some rough times i was using food to comfort my pain and depression didn't realize it until someone pointed out on why i was over eating.

ukti i suggest you start an exercise program. exercise is known to relieve stress and makes you more happy. when exercising your body releases something called endorphin. which is a chemical in you body which makes you happy.
exercise also decreases one's appetite.
do be sad. we all at some point in our lives gain a few pounds and fall into depression.

also remember that in islam is very disliked for us to fill our belly's so if you eat junk food dont eat so much of it. like try cutting down to one snack a day. then eat one snack every other day and then one snack every two days then one snack each week etc

If you are craving food all the time, it usually means that you are not eating enough at mealtimes. Eat three meals a day - yes breakfast is the most important one - make them healthy, filling meals including wholegrain carbs (bread, rice, pasta) lean protein food (chicken, fish, beans/pulses) and fruit and veg (preferably fresh). Eat healthy food until you feel full for each of these three meals. If you do that, inshaAllah you will lose the desire to constantly snack. Hunger is your body's way of telling you you are not eating enough. If you don't eat enough healthy food, you will crave unhealthy food because unhealthy food gives your body a quick supply of energy.

If you are already eating three large healthy meals a day and still need to snack constantly, see your doc in case you have a metabolic disorder of some sort.

It is true what sis dhakiyya is saying, what type of food to take. a person feels hungry is when the sugar level in the body drops, good food like grains and stuff has natural sugar and it lasts longer in the body so it takes longer for the body to feel hungry again. Whereas, artificial sugar level in candies and stuff drops faster so it makes you think you are hungry but actually your body is still full.

so by choosing what you eat, makes your body react to it.

it is important that a person is aware of her own body and her emotions and environment before they can start a daliy regime of practice and reminder.

in your case... you may want to write down your plans and start practising your daily food intake and include some excercise, try to do it bit by bit.

It's going to take some time but i'm sure it'll work for you if you try... :)

Fasting is good for your health but you MUST follow the Islamic guidelines. i.e. have a healthy meal for suhoor and iftaar, break your fast as soon as possible after iftaar, and stop fasting if you become ill, or are menstruating. (or do what flabby said and still eat three healthy meals and nothing at all between them)

The way you phrase the above it sounds like you're going to eat nothing at all for a few days - I hope you did not mean that inshaAllah and you meant what flabby said. Eating nothing at all combined with being overly concerned about being/becoming fat can lead to serious eating disorders and in some cases is a sign they already have one. Sorry to keep nagging about this, but I have a friend who is recovering from anorexia and I know what hell she went through and how difficult it is for her even now. I get very worried when I hear sisters who are not even fat (size ten is not fat!) talking in an eating disorder way.

I fully support you in eating healthily, exercising healthily and giving up snacking on junk. A good tip if you want to stop unhealthy snacking, is to snack on carrot and celery sticks, and cherry tomatoes. They are all very low in calories, fat free and have lots of vitamins and minerals and are filling. They also contribute to your five a day fruit and veg. There is nothing wrong with snacking on these between meals, so if you don't end up giving up snacking altogether, if you only snack on veg like these, there is nothing to worry about inshaAllah.

Are you Bangladeshi as they eat a lot but have fast metabolism. Do you have a fast metabolic rate?
Why not eat from smaller plates that way you know your portions will be smaller and top up on salads.

For the junk food, phase them out gradually.

salams

what about what the prophet salallahu alayhi wassalam said
eat one portion food one portion water and one portion air
ukhti wen you eat try to eat on the floor and sit in the sunnah position this shrinks your stomach and you feel full faster also wen you eat it takes your body maybe 5 or 10 mins to register its full eat slowly and talk with your husband while your eating even though he probly only thinking about how tastey his food is
(dont get upset if he just smiles and nods)

just get in a habbit of training and once you start you feel guilty to miss a session
i exercise at home by myself and its better i put some nasheeds on (motivation) ones that make me think of the opression our ummah is facing or ones that make me want to be a fit and healthy muslimah for the sake of Allah
but think about your neighbours i had the police called on me cause everyday for about an hour i had nasheeds pumping from my house and my neighbours wer concerned for there own well being because they could hear gun shots stupid kuffar
anyway

make your intention because you want to be a fit muslimah
and if u have problems with your stomach do sit ups they are the best try touching your right elbow on your opposite knee and you left on your right
but you have to do it everyday and wen it hurts its good
dont slack off
also depression
hmmmm your a muslimah spend more time reading quran and looking into the situations of the ummah and think of others (the ones Allah called your brothers and sisters) wallahi their is no contentment in this dunya and the only wy your heart will be at rest is through your deen
make dua
wake up in the middle of the night and pray to Allah repent to Him for the sins you know of and have forgotten cry to Him and make dua for the ummah and yourself and trust me you will notice a big change inshaAllah

may Allah make you a strong muslimah that is pleasing to her Rabb and her husband Ameen
