In the name of Allah, The Incomparably Great, the Most Merciful
Surah Rahman, Surah number 55 will be our next surah insha'Allah ta'ala as voted by a load of people who we dont know. This is the sign up topic, if you want to join the Ummah in learning this surah, please respond below with something like "I want to learn the Quran insha'Allah" or "I acknowledge Allah SWT is the Most Merciful" or something.
Even if you know this surah as many people do masha'Allah, it is advised to sign up regardless as both practice and as revision.
The reason behind knowing who is in and who isnt is to a) encourage others insha'Allah b) so we can keep a check c) so you know you are dedicating yourself and d) If your names down and you dont do the h/w, then you flopped.
This surah will work simliar to Surah Waqiah, there will be 3 ayaats but that is due to the oft repeating verse "fabiyah la irabuku ma tukadhiban". This ayah after the beggining of the surah comes every other ayah, so alhamdulilah another easy one to memorise. By signing up, you are commiting yourself to memorising 3 ayaats EVERY SINGLE day until the surah is finished insha'Allah [its actually less because one of the 3 ayaats everyday you already know]. 3 ayaats, how easy is that if Allah wills, we can memorise pages of maths equations for our dunya exams, whats 3 ayaats a day for our akhira exams going to harm.
Surah Rahman is 78 verses long [but its more like about half of that due to the oft repeated verse], insha'Alla ta'ala, it will take 25ish days to complete this surah, so just under a month..
Imam Ahmad recorded that Zirr said that a man said [to Ibn Mas`ud]: "How is this recited: "Ma'in Ghayri Yasin or Asin'' He asked him, "Are you that proficient in reciting the whole Qur'an'' He replied, "I recite the Mufassal section in one Rak`ah.'' So he said, "Woe to you! Do you recite the Qur'an in haste, as if it is poetry I know that the Prophet used to recite two Surahs from the beginning of the Mufassal section (in one Rak`ah).'' And Ibn Mas`ud considered Surat Ar-Rahman to be the beginning of the Mufassal section. Abu `Isa At-Tirmidhi recorded that Jabir said, "The Messenger of Allah went to his Companions and recited Surat Ar-Rahman from beginning to end for them, but they did not say anything. The Prophet said, (I recited it to the Jinns, on the night of the Jinns and their response was better than yours! Whenever I recited Allah's statement: (Then which of the blessings of your Lord will you both deny)( They said, "None of Your favors do we deny, our Lord! All praise is due to you.'') At-Tirmidhi recorded it and he said, "This Hadith is Gharib.'' Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bazzar also collected this Hadith.
