The pious people of the past inquired of each other in order to praise Allah
Such a purpose and objective is found in the practice and noble way of the Prophet s.a.w. At-Tabarani narrates on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr:
The Prophet s.a.w said to a person: “How was your morning, O such and such person?" He replied: I praise Allah together with you O Rasulullah!. Rasulullah s.a.w. said "This is what i wanted to hear from you"
Imâm ‘Abdullâh ibn al-Mubârak narrates from ‘Alqamah ibn Marthad on the authority of ‘Abdullâh ibn ‘Umar r.a. who said: “At times we used to meet each other several times in a day. We would still ask each other about his condition The only reason we did this was to hear Allah being praised”
---
Anas ibn Mâlik r.a. says: “I heard a person greeting ‘Umar ibn al-Khattăb r.a.. He replied to his greeting and asked him: ‘How are you?’ The person replied: ‘I praise Allah together with you.’‘Umar r.a. said to him: ‘This is what I Wanted to hear from you.”
---
Habib bn AbI Thâbit narrates from Said ibn Jubayr who said: “The first ones to be called towards paradise shall be those who praise Allah in every situation, or he said, in privacy and in public.” Praise be to Allah always, forever and in every situation
---
lshâq bin ‘Abdillah says that ‘Umar r.a. said to a person: How was your morning, O such and such person?” He replied “I praise Allah together with you.’‘ Umar r.a. said to him: “It is for this reason that I asked you.”
---
Sa’id al-Maqburi narrates that lbn ‘Umar r.a. said: “I go out to the market place. 1 have no need to go, but I go so that I may greet [people] and they may greet me.” Bushayr ibn Yasâr says: “No one could beat Ibn ‘Umar in greeting first.”
---
Seek the assistance of Allah in every matter. Ask Allah for goodness in every situation. When Allah has decided anything for you, abstain from raising objections therein. Constrain yourself to every act with which you would love to meet Allah. Every matter Which you dislike in others, remove it completely from your mannerisms. Fling aside the companionship of every friend whose company does not increase you in goodness each day. Take for yourself a fair share of pardon and overlooking others.
