Hi,

I am ashamed to say this but a while back I had a type of gay encounter. I really had this urge to experience it. I dont want to go into details. Since then, I have repented sincerely, but I'm scared that i won't be forgivven. I've thrown my self into religion completley.

Will I be forgivven. also is it true that when you commit a sin, god wont accept your supplications or prayers for 40 days ?

Sinning is a part of human nature, and inshAllah, if you repent, Allah will forgive you....try and perform Tawbah salaah, it is a nafl prayer:

Tawbah Salaah (repentance) – After one has done any sinful act, he should recite two rakaahs nafl salaah of tawbah after which he should sincerely repent, feel sorry for his sins, seek forgiveness and make a firm decision to not do it again. By His Grace the sin would be forgiven.
Rasulullah :saw: said that whenever one has done a sinful act, he should make wudhu, perform two rakaahs nafl salaah and thereafter sincerely repent and ask for the Lord’s forgiveness. Allah pardons his sins. Thereafter, Rasulullah :saw: recited this from the Holy Quraan:
‘And those who have done something to be ashamed of or wronged their own souls. Earnestly bring Allah to mind and ask for forgiveness of their sins and who can forgive this, except Allah’ (3:135)

Repent but dont sin again....... Allah (swt) is forgiving but not for you to keep doing it and then saying sorry hoping Allah will forgive you all the time. Repent and mean it sincerely from your heart, Pray, make du'a to allah (swt) and dont repeat your sin!

Asalamalikum.

Yes as long as you mean it sincerly and intend to avoid ever committing that sin again then you will be forgiven. Allah knows what is in our hearts. If it is merely words when you repent then you are highly unlikely to be forgiven, but we were all created with naffs and a daily struggle with Shatan so we are all bound to make mistakes at some point and Allah is there waiting for us to correct ourselves :up:

JazakAllah khair for everyone else's comments. They are really nice to read.

Allah will fulfil the one who sincerely repents, not because he must, but because he is the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving.

Not so often that someone asks a question with such a pleasing and clear response? SubhanAllah and JazakALlah khair for this.

Conditions of Repentance contained here with other advice
http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111880

Summary
1. Leaving the sin;
2. Remorse over having committed the sin;
3. Resolve never to return to the sin;
4. (If it relates to the rights of another person, then to) Return the rights or property one wrongly took.

The conditions of repentance are mentioned for a reason. It means that once they are fulfilled, you will be forgiven inshaAllah. This is Allah's promise. And what a beautiful promise it is...all we have to do is ask of Him. SubhanAllah.

May Allah gives us the tawfeeq to be sincere in repentance and forgive us for our sins, Ameen.
