That your username has expired and needs to be activated!

It happened to me also!

that is if you created a new acount! It expires!

but what you need to do is log on using the admins username!

do you remember the Adminstrators username?

Nah bro, Windows XP has this activation thing where you have to phone up Microsoft and get an activation code. It's an anti-piracy measure.

Can't help you there bro, unfortunately. My advice is always, when it comes to the OS, make sure it's a legal copy.

(from what I've heard) if you change something on your computer, (add new copier, burner ect) it will think you're trying to use a differant computer without paying Gates for a new xp disk. So you have to call Microsoft to verify you bought a legit copy.

ASA,

There is a way around it, but I'm not quite sure if it would be smart to list it on this site.

I'll leave the decision to Baba as to whether or not I can post how to bypass XP activation.

ASA,

here is the link for a Windows XP Key generating program.

Please use this program for informational purposes only, as piracy is very bad and very naughty.

ASA,

And why is that so funny Br. Abu Mubarak? To the best of my knowledge, Br. Osama isn't a pirate (software or otherwise).

Besides, personally I don't care if Microsoft loses a gazillion dollars because of piracy, I just don't want this forum to be held accountable, hence the disclaimer!

i kinda figured thats why you were saying it

with usamah being the worlds #1 bad guy, it was kinda ironic he would speak about piracy

its like when they arrested al capone for tax evasion

salaam

i think there is a way round it if your using sp1
go into the i386 folder and look for a file called unattend.txt in this file there will be a something called 'producrkey' use this number instead of the product key and it should by pass activation screen..

So since piracy is stealing, and since stealing is forbidden in Islam, do Muslims ever consider using a free operating system based on linux or freebsd instead?

I personally use various OSes including Windows, because I personally don't mind supporting American companies like Microsoft. But I know many people on this board don't want to support America in any way, so why pay an American company for an operating system when you have other choices?

Just curious.

(BTW, I understand that even free OSes have components from GNU, etc., that were largely developed in the US, but you don't have to pay for those components.)

if something has almsot infinite quanities of something, it cannot possiable be considered stealing

and, in the internet, it's not so much as you stealing software, as it is someone letting you borrow thier purcheased software [ie, letting you borrow this game]

it is stealing

you think about it, as overpriced as it may be, what with the 300% profit margins on computing things. people did put some effort into naking it and have given it a price and they used resources too. so even if its a higher price than it should be getting stuff illegally is stealing. borrowing is something you give back. downloading is usually when you keep stuff.
