i was like thinking 'rickshaws in saudi?' , woman u iz confused, but i didnt say anyting as she was coming at me with big needle

the saudi government require u to have a meningitis jab
it has to be within three years of u going there
so my last one has run out
i dont think theres epidemic but esp. at busy times , there is more risk
the nurse or doc gives u a paper which u then show with ur visa
wow they wont let u into the country without it  looks like i wont be going to saudia then.

How deadly is Meningitis??
it can cause brain damage or death if not treated quickly
mainly folks arnt aware of symptoms so they dont get treated quick enough

nope i just dont do vaccines, my mother had me vacined against whooping cough, which gave me whooping cough and i almost died from it. same with my son mmr jab woke up next morning completely disabled as if he had no bones in his body 10 days in hospital and he started to recover, effected his learning.

No there isn't...but people from around the world tend to come for Umrah/Hajj...which makes the visitors of the 2 Holy Cities in particular a lot more prone to catching something. Meningitis is not uncommon in Makkah during the Hajj/Ramadhan seasons and the summer holidays. The rest of the cities don't tend to have a problem.

if you have the money for hajj than i think for something like this u just have to put ur trust in Allah that the jab will not do u harm

ahhh... great!!.. About a year ago.. the doctor told me i had meningitis C.. I havent heard anything since then.. But i had my vaccine when I was in primary school..
Nothing has happened since then.. Al-hamdullilah..
I had a reaction to the whooping cough vaccine as a baby and could be wrong but I suspect that vaccines I took before a trip to Pakistan had a role in my developing M.E as well. I'm scared to go abroad now cos' I dunno whether to risk the jabs or risk the diseases themselves:nervous:

immunisations are much better than the disease, and they're very important - it's only thro immunisation that we can eradicate killer diseases like polio and tb.
they work by getting a small amount of the illnes into your blood, so that your antibodies fight it off and thereafter you will be immune to that disease. it's not unusual to have a mild form of the illness after an immunisation - i got german measles twice, both times after immunisation, but it was very mild and i was fine.
you can boost your immune system with herbs like echinacea, available in tablet form. it's not appropriate as a substitute for immunisation, but it can help if you take it beforehand for about a week or 10days, and also before your holiday, if you're worried about picking up an infection or illness.
hope that helps :)

i dont think u can get a visa unless u have had the vaccine,,
.: Anna :.
12-07-07, 11:19 AM
i think u need 2 put a certificate or letter from ur doctor in with all the stuff for wen u get ur visa.. like passports, photos, marriage cert if ur going with husband etc...
u cn get the vac from the ba travel clinic.. they charge 50 quid plus 15 consultation fee but if u wnt 2 get it done quickly can do there. we checked n the normal gp is even charging 35 quid!?! and they ask for 8 weeks notice b4 travelling aswel :S altho i got mine done in grimsby gp last summer for free and without ne notice bt i think london doctors surgeries are not all that (more disorganised, more waiting around n stuf cos they busier?)
baba is going 2 day 2 hav his from that travel clinic so will let u kno if that place is ne good insha allah
