So for the married ones, what's the age gap between you and your spouse?
And those of us looking what are your age limit's?
Would the brother's consider marrying a sister who is older then them say 3, 5 or years older?
To the older sisters would you consider proposals from younger guys? if so how much younger?
And to the younger/youngish sisters what's your limit, how many years older would you consider?
Just doing a little friendly research:) just trying to guage current trends:confused:

Bro but these days that doesn't happen to much, people want to be within the 5 year gap. My dad is also older than my mom, about 8 years or so.

I suppose it depends at the age you're getting married. Say a bro is getting married at 16/17, his wife is likely to be close in age.
I think age matters more when you're young and becomes less important as you grow older.
I am five years younger! Nice gap methinks! :inlove:
Best age gap would be maximum 3-4 years

True it doesn't happen to much but ocassionally it does, my cousin sister married at 19 and her husband was 29, this was about 8 years ago.

Yep true:D but isn't it more likely to be the other way round that, the older guy is he is more in tuned with his emotions, more mature, more intelligent(OK this one is debatable) more clued up (you know of what the wifey expects/wants?), and last but not least more appreciative so more committed:)

Well, i'd say i like sum1 hus atleast 2yrs olda - no younger lol - i think maturity cumz in2 it.......
age gaps are well overated and taken waaaayyy to seriously, it boils down to deen and character, some older bros are better than the younger ones in this and some times younger bros are better than older bros in this capacity so whats age?...........nothing but a number :D

umm, i get wot ur sayin, but i think i'd still (personally yeh) perfer a guy who's olda than me b cuz i think i'd respect him mre n it'll kinda make me think wer on the same wave length - maturity wise....:)

I would like the age gap to be 4 years max. I think it would be really cool if we were the same age!
My parents are two years apart.
I know this uncle who is forty-something and his wife aka "aunty" is 21. She told my sisters that when she was born, her husband graduated from high school. Not that there is anything wrong with it...its just that that was his first marriage.

Like people mentioned above, the age has no bearing whatsoever in Islam. It is all to do with personal choice.
My husband is 6 years older than me and I think this is a great age-gap Alhamdulillah :) and we've been married five years now :inlove:
Some of the younger guys I was introduced to before my hubby... I just found immature in their approach/attitude towards marriage.

yea I always wondered why MMS has these cartoon figures in her avatar? Is that like her fantasy world?? Perfect husband with gread beard and thobe? and is the hijabi supposed to be her or something....
hmm i dunno maybe id marry someone 12-15 years older or younger. It all depends not on the persons age but on their outlook. U could marry a young guy who acts like an old bloke never wants to go anywhere or do anything, or u could marry an older man who has more enthusiasm for living than someone half their age. anyway if it worked for Muhammad salAllahu alleyhi wa salam and his wives, then no reason why age should become a restriction for us today insha Allah.

i sed i wudnt mind lol. but depends on other factors too:up:
my dad is six years older than my mum - when we were younger we used to joke to them and say that when my dad was in starting school my mum was just a tiny baby and stuff - I suppose the gap closes a lot when you get older :) when we mention the gap now my mum just says '...and hes still not mature enough for me!' lol
I suppose I wouldnt want someone very much older than me, six years max I guess :) younger than me ...well I actually would consider it i think ...parents probably wouldnt agree *makes mental note to add this to discussion list*... not very much younger but I dont see anything wrong with about up to two years younger (prob because I act like such a kid myself that ppl have trouble believing me when I tell them my age!) - depends on the maturity of the person I suppose:)

Ideally I would want someone who is between 5 to 10 years older than me but no more than that. I think that runs in my family for my dad was 9 years older than my mum.
My grandfather had three wives and the youngest was my grandmother (Aishah) who was 9 when he married her and he was in his early Fifties. So when she gave birth to my father, his other wife's son (my uncle) was having his third child.
My mum said that he used to play with her like the Rassul :saw: did with Aishah and he used to buy her dolls and stuff. His other wives taught her how to cook and clean and be a wife..

Max.-10 yrs...min.-exactly my age...generally. Exceptionally amazing men would get special consideration if they don't fit into the above range.
u people are too picky....
if the sister is good, she's mature, she's a practicing muslimah, and she can love ur parents, then even if she's 10 years older than you it wouldn't matter....:inlove:
A few yrz older no masla,
round about the same age, wkd,

My honest view is that i think the brother should be 10 years older than the sister, off coures that's if he's passed the age of 25. Though there are exceptional cases where u find amazing muslimahs that are nyour mates or even older, in that situation its better not to let the uktii slip because of some age issue. We should have it at the forefront of our thoughts to always do the right things at the right time and know what is best for the particular situation and as well as what is best for our lives. May Allah guide us to make the right choices, amin.
lol! I'm like 5 years older bro... :outta:

i don't think age matters that much. it just so happens that she's only 2 years younger. :)

theres this saying mind over matter which simply means in this case that his age is nothing if he has the qualities of being the right guy/girl for you but in my case i would like it to be a couple of months to three years older than me and thats the maximum no negotiating full stop im only 18 for crying out loud and btw i still have uni and a degree to pursue so im not worried about it oh ok i am just abit i dont want to get married now but its wat allahs written down for me and i cant change that :):)

to be honest i didnt really know about da other wife and kids because when my dad married my mum he divorced the other wife so me n my brothers didnt really see or know about them. its only when my dad passed away my step brothers and the 1st wife came to see my family. i was introduced with my step brothers...from that moment onwards we'v been in touch...they always come around. i'm sooo grateful that i have other older brothers cos at the time of my dads death me n my brothers were really young.

Alhamdolilah we get on really well...the age has never mattered. He is wise, mature and clued up. I also know that he will look after me.
He always says that he can't even tell their's such a huge gap between us. People had their concerns including my parents but now alhamdolilah my parents praise him more than they praise their own children! He is everything my parents wanted...educated, earning a good income, mature and prays 5 times a day.
I am a sinful person but Alhamdolilah Allah has given me more than I could have asked for...everyone should remember the age gap between the Prophet (PBUH) and Hazrat Aisha (RA).
