whats ur age sis, because u may be of the age where u need 2 wear a hijab? mayb this is why they are telling u it is haraam? unless ur school is girls only including teachers or something? then i dont see ne harm...

basically its not wrong 2 do ur hair 2 look nice, or even 2 wear make up.. but if ur going outside like that without covering all this, its not allowed because hijab is compulsory from the consensous of the scholars. maybe ur family do not know that it is compulsory, but they can insha allah look into the matter and they will find it is... u can do ur hair nice at home and for girls parties and stuff insha allah so its not like u have to totally stop from that :)

I don't know your age cos' it partly depends on that. If you've reached puberty (ie started your periods already), then it means you've reached an age where you need to start covering. After puberty, it would be haraam to show your hair, in fact the whole body should be covered except for the face and hands (and some schools of thought allow the feet to be exposed as well) when you leave the house and when you go to any place where boys/men your age and older would be around (this also means you have to cover in front of grown up male cousins and brother in laws). The only people Allah (swt) allows to see your hair, neck, arms and legs (below the knee); girls, women, your husband when you get married, little boys who haven't yet reached puberty and male members of your immediate family which means your brothers, dad, grandad, your dad's brothers and your mum's brothers.

Abu Dawood narrates that Aishah (raa) said: " Asma'a the daughter of Abu Bakr (raa) came to see Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) whilst she was wearing a thin dress; so Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) turned away from her and said: "0 Asma'a, once a woman reaches the age of puberty, no part of her body should be seen but this -and he pointed to his face and hands."

If your parents don't have a problem with you showing your hair, that doesn't mean you should continue to show it. When the time comes to face Allah (swt) with your deeds, he will ask you whether you obeyed Him and His Messenger (saw) regardless of what your parents/friends/community say.
