aslaam alaikum
what do u guys recommend or use for children under 10yrs who suffer from severe hayfever, cos i find the doctors are unwilling or apprehensive about prescribing medication due it being so strong and causing drowsiness?

lol piriton causes drowsiness, so that can only really be taken in the evening (whihc is no use) cos during the day the child is out and about :D

if you eat locally produced honey then you can become immune to the pollen in your area

I suggest you see a doctor. Children can use pretty much the same meds as adults but their dosages have to be reduced from the standard according to the childs size so they have to be purchased through a pharmacist on a prescription. Benadryl, unless they have changed the formula, does indeed cause drowsiness, especially in smaller people.

sister there is a homeopathic remodie called pollenna which can be used with conventianal meds, and try locally produced honey, it can help build an imunity to the pollen, having said all that i tried these methods last year but found the only thing that brought releif for my lot was piritin or zirteck, which i hate using as they contain alcohol, like most syrup meds...
inshaallah you'll have better luck

go to holland and barrat u can get this natural one... the brand name is new era it comes in a white and blue pack and it works well, if u ask the staff theyll tell u if its alright for kids. but as the adults dose is 4 tablets each time (dissolvable small ones) i think if u like half it for child it would hav been okay

there is nothing to do really for this... I have suffer of it all my life and 3 of my 4 kids having (they are between 3 and 10 years old)... drink lot of water... take a shower twice a day... let them going out when there is no high humidity... when children don,t feel good and are really too much sic (like been in the bed for a day) due to hay fever give them some BENADRYL for children it will help temporaly... but it won't make it to go away for good... It always coming back and don't keep flowers, plant or tree inside home...

There is no vaccination for to take it off forever... only one to help to have less high... I try it (2 injections by years)and it work 2 years after that no more effect and hay fever did come back more strong.

it does need to be local. there will be trace amounts of the local pollens that are causing the hayfever in the honey. InshaAllah their presence helps the immune system to realise that they are not a threat, and reduce the severity of the allergic reaction. If its somewhere miles away in the UK the traces of pollen in the honey will not be the same. The closer to home the honey is made the better mashaAllah.
I ate devon honey when living in devon and didn't get hayfever. Although I don't get hayfever every year anyway and never that severely. But it definitely seems to work for some people inshaAllah.
Honey has lots of other healing properties mashaAllah, and for those it can be any decent honey mashaAllah, not just local honey.

salaam, My mum recommended black seed oil for me and my nephew who is 8 and mahsAllah TabarakAllah it worked.
You have to apply a little of the oil on the palm of your finger and apply it onto the child's eyelids and a little into the corners (plz make sure that the child keeps his eyes closed for a least 3 minutes after this as it will sting but inshAllah after this yes will stop stinging. for case of runny nose just apply some on the nostrils inshAllah. better to do eyes and nose a seperate times from each other may be too much for a child to handle. (same applies to adults. Alhumdolilla it has worked for most ppl i have recommended it too.
Black seed oil (by the will of Allah)
is the cure for every disease except death.

If you don't give too often (like 4 times a day and everyday) it will be good for the summer... Once you saw the pollen going away stop the medication slowly until your kids doing well without it then you will be able to start back next spring/summer... Try to see an allergist to know exactly which pollen the kids as allergy then you will be able to controlled more his reaction...
