I've had banana fritter from the chinese, it's ok not really my bag. And I often have fried plantain for breakfast. Is ok too. I prefer my banana raw and freckly.

OOOOOOOOhhh I'm figuring (still) that banana fritter refers to fried Banana...

It's possibly because I avoid banana things...not really my fave of fruits *rolls eyes*

dunk in batter and deep fried. choice of bananas got to be the small and sweet type.

popular in S.E.A.. It's called 'goreng (fried) pisang (banana)' in Bahasa Malaysian language.

That's my problem- mum always has a go at me!!!

Insha'Allah erm I might erm consider trying it *Smiles*

Let me recall a story- Once,on the summery days of our last year there was an Foreign market weekend thing in town...I went along with my mother.

From afar I could see a man cooking tis really nice looking thing (Ok I could just see the whole area smokie due 2 sizzling). I went upclose to see what it was and it was...OK I haave no idea what it was but it didn't look nice!!!

It was like a massive pot of mixed-not minced- mixed meats, some looked like donner n some looked raw *Roll Eyes*. Anyway I couldn't help myself make a face n say "amma let's go now". Next thing I know is the 'chef' is giving me the evils n saying stuff in Italian (I think)...*Rolls Eyes*

actually fried plantain is popular in africa as well. usually it is cooked when its still green. though when you leave it in the hot weather (not in the fridge or cold places) for 2-3 days it gets a bit softer with a reddish and black black colour... then its ready to be fried. you may get plantain in an africa or asian shop.

however, i ate some baked bananas covered with honey and and a crispy cover (dunno it that was honey only... could ve been wheat but i m not sure how they made it... but i am pretty sure that you may find the recipe on the net somewhere) when i was a teen. its quite sweet but i guess too sweet for me now. rather enjoy the hotter and spicy things.

hey, dont insult fried banana:p yea like sister Pielle says, it's famous here in malaysia. but we dont fry all bananas, there's to be certain type that we fry. It's really nice having them during tea time, eaten just like that or with some fine castor sugar (like i like) or like some people like it with sweet condensed milk or to make it more savory people eat it with some hot sweet chilli sauce. yum yum.

Fried plantain I think is a carribean thing, it's similar to a banana but the taste is amazing. it's crispy on the outside soft and fluffy in the inside and the texture is good. It's not too sweet either.

then u put lotsa sugar in ur frying pan and n u let it melt into a liquidy form then u put in the banana slices.

it gets fried up and coated in the syrup and its absolutely delicious....
