Assalamo Alaikum
In case any of you living in the Midlands or Yorkshire area (or anywhee else) are considering on going for Umrah soon, and you want an operator that is ATOL protected and honest, I would recommend Barket Travel of Dewsbury
I travelled with them in April this year and I can say that Alhamdolillah the company did it's utmost to ensure that my travel and stay with their group was comfortable and also spiritually rewarding.
We were assigned a group leader from the UK who was responsible for us all throughout the journey. There was only 25 in our group, which was not big but it was a good group with both young and old. As a group we got quite close.
The beauty of the package for me, as a lone traveller from the midlands is that the company organise a coach from Yorkshire direct to the airport (and they stop for pickup and drop off at a Midlands Service Station too). This for me was perfect as I did not have to trouble anyone to drop/pick me to/from the airport.
We stayed overnight in Jordan and for those that wanted to do Ziyarat in Jordan, they arranged that too.
Barket Travel also specialises in Ziyarats to Masjid Al Aqsa, Jordan, Turkey etc...
and is ideal for those that also wish to visit these places as well as travel to Medinah and Makkah.
They can also tailor packages. I decided to take an internal flight from Medinah to Jeddah (rather than go by coach) and the company had no problem in arranging this. It costs me £19 for the ticket and the flight to Jeddah was only 40 min plus a 1hr taxi ride from Jeddah to Makkag (rather than 6+ hours by coach)
As Barket are official agents, I had confidence in them getting me visas and they even print the air tickets from their offices.
Any problems that we encountered, they did their best to resolve. I have been for Hajj and Umrah before with other operators and this was the only one that managed to address and take seriously any issues, however small.
And for any of you wondering....I have no relation/interest in Barket Travel whatsoever. It's the first time I used them and I would definitely travel with them
If you read one of my previous postings, I was one of many people that got caught up with a company called Al Naqshabandi travel. I was due to travel for hajj in dec 2006 with al Naqshabandi and they did not deliver and it has taken me 7 months for the company to pay me back my money. Al Naqshabandi advertised Falsely as Atol protected and throughout my booking, once they got my money they had no interest in looking after their customers. 24 hours before travel we had no tickets, no hotel confirmations and no idea of where we were flying from. In the end, due to Al Naqshabandi's lack of communication and total failure in providing the packages advertised we never went. And it was a real struggle in getting our money back. We had to involve solicitors, trading standards and ATOL to step in. Even the people that went with Al Naqshabandi, they had a terrible time.
After that experience, travelling with Barket Travel was a refreshing change and shows that there are decent and honest Hajj/Umrah operators out there.
If any brother/sister is considering going for Umrah, I would have no hesitation in recommending Barket Travel. They have a website and their latest off the shelf packages can be found here
