As salaam alai kum.
Install the "Arabic enabled" version of Win98. With this you can keep switching between arabic and english.
Purchasing it would be expensive unless you get a pirated version. Sells in India for Rs. 100/-
I think there are programs that allow you to type arabic.
As for the arabic windows, its all written in arabic, so unless you know it well, there isnt any point in it.

i was able to type arabic when i had windows 98, i was able to type arabic, but i forgot how to install it
it had something to do with downloading arabic font from windows update and adding a language to your computer
then i just found the windows arabic keyboard thru a google search, put it on my desktop, and i was able to type arabic
sorry sis, thats all i can help you with
i have xp, millenium edition and 2000, i did the same thing with all three of them, but if you asked me how i did it, i could only explain after going thru it again
i blame it on old age
you probably have the tools already if you can see the font, its just finding what buttons to click on your computer to toggle between english and arabic
i think you can even go to cnet or zdnet or tucows, they may have instructions somewhere there
go to google, type in "typing arabic font windows 98" let it find some page that gives detailed instructions

As salaamu alaikum,
Well after an hour of google searches, alhamdulillah I think I cracked it :D
I found this site ..
http://zsigri.tripod.com/fontboard/arablpk.html#win9x
I downloaded it to zip from here ...followed the instructions (they were kinda complicated) and now have Arabic in my control panel>keyboard :D, though I need the windows 98 CD rom to finish installing.
And I have the Arabic keyboard on my desktop :D
JazakAllah khair to all for your help.
I'm inshaa Allah going to get the CD rom from my bro in law tommorow and if this works I promise never to call myself technologically challenged or a dummy again!

Allah hu Akbar!!!!!!!!I found the CD at my place...o
Akhi Hassan..
A good tip, when adding to keyboard be sure you change the properties>keyboard layout to Arabic ASDF, before you are asked to insert CD. I didn't and only just figured out i was supposed to do that
At the end you should have in control panel>keyboard>languages
En English(British) British
Ar Arabic Arabic ASDF
There will be an icon En next to your clock that you can switch to Ar when you want to type in Arabic.
I had to download another file too (Richedit 3.0 to enable right to left in wordpad) But the instructions for that are all in the Arabic Keyboard on your desktop once you've downloaded from the site I gave.
Ok lemme try this......
اين حسن؟
Woooooooo hooooooo I think I cracked it, Allah ar-Rahim
