I should say I'm not proud but secretly I am that I do/have done quite a few of these...
25 Reasons You Might Be A Hardcore Graphic/Web Designer
(In no particular order)
You’ve almost rear-ended the car in front of you because you were analyzing a font on a billboard.
You get angry when a free Photoshop brush you download is less than 1000px in size.I hate it when they are to small, yeah
You’d rather study the paisley pattern on your boyfriend/girlfriend’s shirt than listen to what he/she has to say. done
You can use keyboard shortcuts at light speed, blindfolded, but you can’t type a paragraph of text without staring at the keyboard.do
You’ve had “Software Nightmares,” when you’ve been working way too much.
You consider meals interruptions.do
You’ve learned your lesson and stopped using the word “final” in any file name when saving.done
You clean your keyboard more often than you wash your car. lol no!
You’ve intentionally given up trying to explain your projects to non-designers.do
You see CMYK and RGB like Neo sees the Matrix.done I even say things like that to my wife, much to her delight
You’d rather organize your desktop than your sock drawer.yes
When you heard that Adobe was acquiring Macromedia, you had a Design Orgasm.sadly yes
When you look at Album art all you see are grunge Photoshop Brushes. (Then you see the album art a couple minutes later)do, not my albums though obviously
You’ve Photoshopped out a watermark for a comp or mock-up.do
You’ve actually paid for a font.
You’ve totally slaughtered a great design concept because the client thinks he/she knows best. (everyone thinks they are a designer)done
The amount of words you’ve written with a sharpie labeling burned discs total more than the amount of words you’ve read in novels.do
You’ve had to explain to a client that a layered file wasn’t part of the deal.
You’ve kept a ragged concert ticket just so you could scan it.I keep anything like that
You’ve nicknamed the OSX spinning wheel. (and not affectionately)
You bookmark a resource more often than you have a fun night out on the town.done
You’ve intentionally overbid a project because you can sniff out a bad client from a mile away.done
You can’t go to a restaurant without secretly critiquing the menu design.done
You have an amazingly huge font collection, and an amazingly short temper.done
If you had a penny for every mouse click, you would have been a trillionaire 3 years ago.doneI'm completely proud of all of those, but hey, you do what ya gotta do, right?

Hmmm maybe graphic designing is not for me..
I'm hoping to go into a career with computers... (going to start an AS level course soon inshallah).. But.. it just seems that I should know so much more about them than I do at the moment...
How much did you know at my age (16) about computers? (yeah I know computing is a HUGE subject but..you know...)

that's promising =]
just a word of advice.... whatever you choose to do...make sure you stay with it while in college. i've been down that road and am still on it actually, where you'll have lots of people saying "dont go there, there's no opportunity" and what not....
don't buy that crap. just do what you like best and stick with it no matter what anyone says. i still feel like kicking my rear end for listening to everyone else and changing to bio/pre-med from computer science. i would've been doing my masters right now if i hadn't changed...and i'd be very well off compared to now. instead i'm doing my bachelors of science once again =(
btw, if you stick to IT, who knows, maybe we can work on a open source project in the future :coolbro: (other than UbuntuME, and I mean a real start up)

wa feeka baarakallahu, and ameen to the duas.
i'm going for Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration most likely in Information System (I have a few months to actually commit to a concentration). But basically right now I'm interested in IS as it's one of the most amazing places to be in (in my opinion).

What exactly is information system? :S I dunno if we have that over here...although insha'Allah I'll just be doing a BSc in Computer Science with focus on whatever I decide when the time comes :)

IS is in essence the managing of systems that transfer information (what an explaination right?). I'll give you an example. Take any proper business, say your favorite desktop linux vendor: Dell. See when you order a system from dell, whether it be from through their site or via sale's rep, IS is at work. When you configure the system, and hit the the payment button, enterring the necessary information for transcation, that's IS at work.
See we have all these technologies available to us, for example, OS, Databases, Web Portals, Online Shopping Carts, Web Servers, Middleware, etc We have all these tools, but the question is: How do we use it? That's where IS comes in. See Managers of IS take these tools and devise whole systems, where information gets transferred via these tools, and can be used in a way to help businesses. This means, implementing things like CRM, ERP, and other systems which can help businesses operate more effectively and efficiently.
