when a new baby is born people come round 1st thing of she/he looks like so n so..

my elder daughter doesnt look like either..people cant tell..if she luks like me or my wife

babies just look like babies (newborns) ive never understood how oldies come and say "oohh she looks exactly like her mum," unless the features are really striking! (like eyes usually, shape of the mouth).
You can usually tell once theyre abit older..

I find it amusing when people try to figure out who newborns look like. They look like babies. Like all babies do :p

Not even their facial features match with anyone in the family at that stage. Perhaps a few weeks later you could begin to see similarities but at the newborn stage - they look like any other baby in the ward :smack:

there are ahadith about why the child looks like one or other parents, and about the lineage of childrens looks being carried over and crossing into future generations masha Allah. like the man whoose wife bore him a black child and he took his new son to the prophet SalAllahu alleyhi wa salam, and said he is black.... and muhammad salaAllahu alleyi wa salam said do you have red camels? and he replied yes.. and he said.. and do you see any grey ones amongst them.. showing that sometimes the genes come into another generation. Also the hadith about why a child looks like the mother or the father, which may be too blunt to explain here with the youngsters around...Allahu alam. Anyway masha Allah Alhamdulillah even such things have been explained for us.

I disagree with anyone who says newborns don't have characteristics that are like mum and dad. Even in her 20 week scan it was apparent that Ruqayya has inherited her dad's head shape mashaAllah, and it was the same when she was born :inlove: in fact me and my hubby when she was like one day old we looked to see which bits came from each of us mashaAllah. She has her dad's nose, my eyes- shape and colour (and also my dad's eyes in fact my mum has a pic of my dad as a baby with the same shape eyes but different colour mashaAllah :love: ) her dad's ear shape for most of her ears, but my shape ear lobe :love: she also has her dad's blood group (we know cause she had severe neonatal jaundice and they thought there may have been a blood group incompatability, and blood tests confimed that yes she did have her daddy's blood group, but it hadn't caused an incompatability and it was just neonatal jaundice and nothing more similar mashaAllah)

Also in her baby photo that they did at the hospital for security, she looks like her daddy :love: and in other photos she looks like me :love: she still has her daddy's head shape and nose, and my eyes :inlove:

some babies are born mostly bald, though completely bald babies are rare.

After eight days in hospital (finally Ruqayya was allowed home after having phototherapy for jaundice) - one doctor commented that she was the only completely bald baby he'd seen, the other mostly bald babies at least had a tiny bit of hair. Then I told him about the aqiqa lol :p

yeah i disagree aswell babies dont look all the same and u can see dif characteristics of looks sometimes which are similiar 2 parents or whoever. okay it does come more as they get slightly older i admit.

I agree with dhakiyya :p Not all babies look alike :p Our little one is taking after her daddy :D Although she has my lips and ears, she has daddys toes and grannys hand and fingers! Sounds weird but when you see the similarities its quite amazing!

And I also disagree that all babies in the ward look alike. My baby was the most beautiful mashaAllah hehe :inlove: :inlove: :love: :inlove:

what a remarkable co-incidence... my baby was the cutest in the entire maternity hospital too :p :D hehe

In fact she was soooooooooo perfect that I didn't even notice the jaundice I wondered why the docs were all saying she was yellow, she was perfect colour mashaAllah and I looked at this other ladies baby and thought "why is her baby that funny pink colour" then I saw this other lady's baby and thought "her baby is the same funny pink colour as the other lady's baby" lol :p

now I look at her newborn pictures and she's proper yellow lol :p

I remember the first time I saw my brother when he was a couple of hours old (I got to see him first before any of my other siblings :D )- he was in the little cot thing in the hospital, wrapped in a blanket so only his head was peeping out - the expression on his face was exactly like my dad does :)
My mum always prayed that if she had a boy he would be exactly like my dad - and even now my bro is five ppl say hes a mini duplicate of my dad - they even have some of the same habits like wanting their hair cut every three weeks lol

My dad has lots of brothers n sisters - they are abroad so we've only met them like twice in our lives - when we did though we were shocked to see how much we look like our cousins - was quite amazing :)

there's hadith, don't remember exact words, in which the prophet (SAWS) was asked by a pagan (not sure either) about whom do the the newly born baby looks like. He (SAWS) said: if the father's emission precede's the mother's emission, then the baby looks like the father. But, if the mother's emission precedes father's emission, then the baby looks like the mother.

I have a picture of my grandfathers mother, we look almost identical masha Allah even the hair, apart from the nose which i get from my father and grandmothers side :D my brother is the complete opposite to me in colouring and height we dont look like brother and sister at all. U can clearly see which side of the family we take after, me the jersey side and my brother the scots, He looks like my mothers familly, and almost identical to her brother. my 2nd son looks more like his father`s, sister than me or his dad from the minute he was born he was just the double of his auntie. my first son was the double of his father when he was small even from the scan pictures before he was born u could see he was the image of his father, but now hes older people say he looks like me but he still has his fathers hair ( and firey temper ) :D masha Allah

My son (he is the oldest one) looks like me...

My daughter (7 years old) looks like her father....

My other daughter 6 years old) looks like me excepting her nose like her father....

My 3rd daughter (3 years olds) looks like my older daughter but not like her father (strange how the difference can be)

The one who is coming in august... still have no idea how he will looks like but I am really curious (it is a boy)....
