View Full Version : anyone know any good AD Blockers for Firefox?
I often goto sites like romhustler, rom world, and romnation, and sometimes, they have some funky ADs that breaks my wudu if u know what I mean.... not that I intentionally look at the ADs, but they are HUGE and take up half the screen sometimes.
So anyone know any GOOD AD blockers that auto detect these images/ad's and blocks em? I tried one ad blocker for firefox once, but it wasn't too good.

i subscribed to the us list (easylist) and boom! all the ADs from those three sites were blocked :inlove:

lol yeah, now i don't feel guilty going to rom sites. usually they have these nasty ADs with girls in lingerie and sometimes very little of it. sad thing is, almost every site i know has these types of ADs, only place that doesn't have em is kazaa (as i last remembered) but it's filled with virii.
but now i can download roms in peace and go back to my childhood playing games of yesteryear :inlove:

its worse when you're going to rom sites with these dodgy ads and someone walks in the room just as the page logs... lol

I'm trying to find a working version of King of Fighters 2001. I have all the KOFs including KOF 2002 and upto 2003 and they work, I just don't have a working version of KOF 2001. any ideas?

Are you sure that works? Coz I think I downloaded it the other day and it did not work. Did you try it out?

i'm on a very slow connection (downloading at 20Kbps) so give it another 30 minutes or so and i'll let u know how well itworks.
see all these rom's work unless they specifically state it doesn't work. what happens is, each emulator decryptes certain parts of the hardware, so some roms show up as "available" and others don't. for that reason, it's wise to keep a lot of emulators, because if one don't show up in kawaks for example, it may show up in mame, or even a different version of kawaks.
works like a charm in kawaks 1.58 (the latest one from www.cps2shock.com ) i tried using it with the old 1.45 to no avail. makes sense though, since that version came out before the rom was decrypted. i think u have to load the XOR tables some other way, but the latest one (1.58) already has it built in.

so the answer is no. because the malware author always find a way to by pass every ad blocker out there. they get paid by big corporations to exploit these adware/pop up blocker which can only block the known problems not the unknown.
the other way around it you can make your browser security settings into the highest security settings and only allow those trusted website. you have to add each and every trusted website manually.

and it's not adware/pop up's that were the problems, it was ADs on webpages. I don't have problems with any adware/pop ups. Adwares refer to wares (that's applications) that display advertisements, usually popping up whenever it scans the screen and see's the user matching keywords with their database of adverts. Then it displays the AD. but the ADs I had problems with were rendered in a web page via doubleclick, ADSense, or some other ad service. Thankfully, brother nami had a problem which blocked them.

i haven't even tried it, but if it doesn't work for you in mame, it won't work for me. though it should work since the rom is under the mame directory (on the site).
personally i don't use mame (don't haveanything against it really) so i wouldn't even know if something works on it or not. I just like kawaks because it works well, looks good, and lets play me play the games online via kaillera with my family back home.

thats weird...i've been using adblock plus for ages and didn't think it was that great because I had to manually select things to block but I just reinstalled it and subscribed to the english easylist...went on those sites belal mentioned (and some other notorious ones) and subhanallah :rubeyes: so clean
I guess its all about the subscriptions...

yup same here. before i had to manually rightclick n block things. but thanksto the subscription everything is clean....even ummahs tayyibun banner ;)

Hah, I just hit the home button and noticed its absence :p
Thats kinda good though...no offence to tayyibun or ummah advertising or anything (kinda feel bad for their decreased ad revenue...) but that ad was kinda annoying, slowed down how fast I could read threads :p
lol i feel like going round some sites I know usually have this kinda stuff to see how effective it really is...but then I'd actually be going round looking for dirty ads :p
