When taking part in polls....

Aslaam alaikum

when you are taking part in polls, can people avoid lying by putting down incorrect answers on purpose about themsleves?

I.e. - If u do not wish to give personal information about yourselves via poll, then just dont take part but putting down wrong answers intentionally constitutes a lie and this is forbidden in islam, this goes for any poll u take part in.
