I need to purchase a laptop; max budget £500

Anyone be kind enough to suggest a couple?

must have wireless networking capabilities
and at least 60gig hd.

I don't know where to start looking....

The best thing you can do is pop into the local main electrical shops like Comet, Curry's, PC World etc and ask about discontinued (usually exdisplay) stock.

I managed to get a laptop for my bro' in law for just over £200 and it 's a pentium 4 17" (crappy ram at 256) but this was over a year ago.

500 pounds? that means $1000.... man...if u spent that much in the U.S, u'd get a awesome laptop.... i can think of the acer aspire series. my bro bought one for 500$ from circuit city... it had amd turion x2 (64 bit processor), 1 gig of DDR ram, 80 gig hard drive, bluetooth and 802.11b/g, 15.4 widescreen display and windows vista premium. it was one sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet laptop.... see if you could import laptops from the u.s for cheap...cuz u'd get a totally good deal for 1000$...

Mesh's Asus laptops all come with a 2 year guarantee as standard - they seem solid and dependable. £500 buys you a laptop with a dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 15.4" widescreen. £400 gets you a similar machine with a slower sempron processor, but probably still more than capable of surfing the net etc.
