If you use Firefox, the Unplug addon is probably the best because all you have to do is right-click to get the context menu and choose "Unplug", it then gives you the link(s) to download the videos from:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/2254

OK, download it and install it. Obviously then you have to restart firefox.
Ok, after you do that, just go to any youtube page with a video on it (you have to make sure the video loads entirely before you can download it) and right click the mouse (to get the context menu) on any white section of a page, you should get the context menu with an option near the bottom called "Unplug", just select that and it should go to a white page which provides links saying something like "this is probably the one you want", choose that and download it.

You should use keepvid.com, it's the best that i've come across.
You'll also need to download a FLV file player to play the files on your computer.

I don't think this firefox thing would work for him, because he said,
i never get that stream to run right, not on any computer at any time
i like this one
http://vixy.net/
converts flv files to divx+mp3 and even a few other variations

screw the conversion bro, no sense in going from one compressed format to another, because it'll look crappier than the original compressed version.
best thing to do is download the vid from youtubex.com (grab the URL from youtube.com) , then use VLC (www.videolan.org) and watch it without any conversion. VLC plays .flv's flawlessly :coolbro:
The neatest way is Democracy player... you can search youtube, google vid and quite a few others from within the program, choose whichever you like and it'll download and store it for you for however long you want!
It's slick and open source, runs on Apple, Windows, you name it

yeah definitely. i heard about that , and i think the concept is really cool. butone thing is that it kills the bandwidth since it'salways downloading...

true, no point doing the link i gave if you're just going to watch it on your pc, i sometimes give them out to friends on dvd so it makes things quicker and easier by converting online for me. like the ummahfilms videos.

i usually try to avoid conversions bro. because they take so long and the quality sucks in the end. the only time i think conversion is cool is if you go from a goodsource to a compressed one, like dvd, or h.264 to divx, xvid, or even wmv. i remember i converted a high quality xvid to svcd once, and the quality was TERRIBLE. that's when i read up on conversions and found out it's not a good idea to go from one compressed format to another...
my set up back home is pretty nice though. which is why i keep things on pc. my pc is connected to my t.v, and the t.v is the extended desktop, so when i want to watch something on the t.v, i just slide VLC to the TV (left side) and maximize it. then just sit back and watch it on t.v :)

It does?
It only downloads when you tell it to (can set it to download 50 videos if you want all at the same time!), but when it's done, it doesn't use up any more bandwidth!
Any Mac users...it's really easy to download youtube vids, in your browser (Safari) just go into the 'Window' Menu => Activity, where it lists everything to do with that page.
The youtube file is obvious, it'll be very large, just double click and it'll download to your desktop! Then play it with VLC.

maybe i messed up with the settings then? i just remember having a bad experience with them :o

thanks, u should try it too brother, if you watch a lot of things from the net. i mainly did it because i like to watch documentries and anime downloaded to my pc...
the cool thing about watching it on the t.v, is not just comfort, but also the t.v smooths out alot of blocky media...

.flv format is a flash video format. Use the VLC media player (best media player out there because it plays nearly everything) to play it.
