Salam,
It just occurred to me to ask about this. I know that in Islam, adopted kids do not have the right to inherit from the family who adopted him/her. What I want to know is:
- Do adopted kids have any obligation to look after the elders who brought them up?
- Do adopted kids have any right of inheritance or obligations towards their real parents?
- Are there any references from the Sunnah about how people like Zaid (ra) were dealt with when it came to these matters?
I'm assuming there would be a distinction or a difference depending on whether the adopted child became mahram to the adopted family or not. If any of you have evidences regarding these matters, I'd be interested in looking at it. Jazakallah khayr.
