My :inlove: mom:inlove: she's so so sweet mashallah. I always thanks Allah :love:for getting a mom like her.
But she's so ill now( depressed and having high sugar). She's having medicines for these. Problem is She almost all day lays in the bed except preparing meals and prayer. Most of the time I try helping her with kitchen work although she doesn't feel to work at all or look at my younger brother who just turned 12. My dad who is abroad for job since 1 month and he'll be back next year inshallah. I don't know is she's more depressed because of my dad's absence or because she has got none but me to talk with and spend time with( which i can hardly manage due to class and studies). Well my dad's absence it's happening every year for 2/3 months when my mom have to stay without dad and she joins my dad's work place after 2/3 months. The point is due to her excessive sleep and ' want to to do nothing' mood she's getting more and more weak. Last day found her having low blood pressure and I always have to force feed her. She even shows no interest on visiting places or relatives.
:help:Would you please tell me how can I manage my mom to be spontaneous and also be enthusiastic about her daily activities. :help:Should I take her out often even if she denies? WHAT TO DO? My mom was never this pale and quite:help:
Psychiatrist is helpless in this case. :o :crying:

how long as she had diabetes for? some people get quite depressed when they find out they are diabetic because they have to change their lifestyle quite a bit and it can be difficult

also obviously on top of that shes missing your dad

do you have any other family in the country? esp her siblings? try and have them round more or get them to invite her around

make sure shes taking care of her health and keeping an eye on her blood glucose levels

take her out for walks...exercise is good for when people are stressed/depressed and is also good for her general wellbeing...and all adapt to the same diet..so that way she doesnt have to stress about cookin u all foods she cant eat herself

Her diabetics is on since 1996 thats 10 years and more.
Thats a great problem her siblings lives too far away. really in other region of the country which makes it more hard to take her some where. I'm thinking about in home variations. Give me idea about what I can do in home beside takign her to walk and excercise:)
So kind of you . :jkk:

well think of something she is interested in

e.g. sewing/knitting..and maybe you could take a class together?

or ask her to teach you how to cook or something like that ..that way she can focus some energy on doing that and get her mind of things

Are you sure her lack of determination in going out or doing things is due to depression or could it be that she's become weak from the diabetes? My mum has had diabetes for around 10 years as well and manages it very well mashallah but in the early months was very weak because of poor blood sugar levels and also once she got the balance right of taking the right amount of medication that made a big difference too. In the UK, diabetics are monitored closely by doctor surgeries or hospitals and they make regular appointments to avoid complications such as worsening eyesight, foot infections (which could lead to amputation if it gets too bad:rubeyes: ) and things like that.

Why doesn't she feel like eating much? It could be depression but also Does the food make her feel ill or nauseous cos' that could indicate an intolerance which could be helped by amending her diet. Even if she doesn't eat much, make sure she drinks plenty of water and give her light foods like soups and salads to boost her nutrients until she reaches a point where she feels able to handle slightly more heavy foods. This could take time but inshallah could yield good results in the long run. Let us know how you get on inshallah.

She goes to sugar checkup as she's member in a hospital for diabetics. Also she do the blood sugar check up in home with 'one touch' machine.
I'll do make her foods for increasing nutrients. Although she's over weight and got high sugar. I'll keep a keen eye on her :insha:
