Just dropped in to say... I went to the event and Subhan'Allah it was an excellent event, exceptional event, exceptional speakers, heartfelt speeches by all the speakers particularly brother Moazzam Begg and Shaykh Zahir and sis Yvonne Ridley. Brought so much awareness to the brothers and sisters… and it was so saddening to hear of the suffering our sisters and their families are going through. May Allah(SWT) hasten the release of our brothers and return them to their families.Ameen.
Masha’Allah to the event holders, sister Nazia you came to mind especially as you are one of the sisters who really makes an effort in supporting the cause. May Allah(SWT) reward you immensely.
I met sister Yvonne Ridley and spoke with her :D she is awesome….truly an asset to our ummah.
Those that didn’t go you really missed out.... Insha’Allah sign up to the organisation, donate and volunteer.

Assalamu Alaikum,
Masha'allah its great to hear feedback from events up North as the Londoners usually get to say theirs and we miss out often on what occured up there.
What was Shaykh Zahir's topic? And was any of the event recorded at all so those that couldn't attend can still benefit?
Na'am there are plently of Hhugs and CagePrisoners activities and events now happening up North so insha'allah all who can should contact and volunteer your assistance insha'allah.
Jezak'illah to all of you for attending and sharing with us your experience.
Ameen to all the du'as.
Wa Alaikum wa Assalam

Shaykh Zahir gave an excellent talk, he talked about the honour of Muslim women and our duty as Muslims to assist one another, he couldn’t stay for long, he gave his talk and left shortly afterwards. He related similar stories as he did on his talk of the “current situation of the Ummah”
I was dumbfounded by Abu Esa Naimatullah he gave his opinion on mixed gatherings, according to his knowledge it is allowed on the condition that brothers and sisters aren’t alone with one another and only talk out of necessity.
Guess he missed out on the ayah 53 of Surah Al-Ahzaab, where our Prophet :saw: ordered us to communicate with one another from behind a screen.
Good event overall, but it’s important that if people are going to spearhead an “Islamic” event, they should keep to the correct islamic guidelines. When I bought my tickets, I specifically asked if the event would be segregated I was told the men and women were going to be completely segregated but this was not the case – men were in front and women at the back. Men were in view of the women and women were pretty much in view of the men.
Yes – It’s inevitable that when we do leave the home and go to marketplaces that we are exposed to and in and about a mixed environment – it’s something out of necessity. It’s not the same doing something in the name of Islam.
Shaykh’s that hold events in masajids Alhamdulillah maintain this fundamental requirement, If women cannot be adequately facilitated, then they don’t invite sisters to attend. That’s the best way IMO. People can listen from home or buy/download the talks and benefit the same.

Yes but it is always hard to maintain that when organising an event which takes place in one room when there is so much to organise and Insha'allah, they dealt with it the way they felt best! and I have been to many lectures etc where this is classed as segreagted and the rest is upon the individual to control their nafs!
