well :o ok well am already gettin that feelin of uneasiness and hearts can always tell if its a sin if its waverin right.... but erm :o like if u know a secret trick on how to get the photocopier machine to work without having to pay for ur photocopyin.... are u allowed to do it? :outta:

Its appropriating property belonging to someone else with the intention to deprive the owner, in essence you can be liable for theft!

loool last year i was so good man, cos i only had 1 room to live in eventually the papers got everywhere, but now im at home its like theres papers everywhere... on ma desk, under ma desk, on ma window sill, under ma bed, on the fireplace, on the shoe rack, in ma wardrobe, in the car, in the boot, in ma garden... there could even be one in the fridge for all i know :torture:
i think that must be one of the benefits of livin simply... u wont have as many rooms to get things lost in :torture::rolleyes:

Sometimes parents teach their children many things.. but the nafs gets in the way.. most of the time when people do actions which are against shariah they know they are doing wrong.. and feel pangs of guilt but they are too weak to avoid it.

I would say so, for coursework maybe, because you go away and research and do all the work yourself. But lecture notes over here, are like provided by the lecturers and you go to the lecture, make a few additional notes, not related to the coursework really. Its erm. Ive never thought of it like that. :S

so how come university lecturers are giving out notes for their lectures anyway? surely students should be doing all their own work thats the only way u can be sure that they understood properly what they have been studying. if they cant even take notes about a lecture and write up a piece about that without help from the lecturer then its just too easy and any fool could do that its just copying after all. If i was teaching my lil students a class then i just give them all the notes, and they take notes from others, and use the net , then use that to write up a piece then its not their work at all and there would be barely anything original in there to see the potential and understanding of the student... :S

if you use your mates notes word for word or use them and pass them off as your own yes you can be prosecuted, but uni's tend to just either a) throw you off the course b) prosecute you, so yes it can happen and has happened, two students were taken to court last year on the very basis,

With lecture notes, its the professors own notes who gave the lecture. Everyone in the same year, has practically the same notes. Even if you write them word for word in the exam, you'll pass. No ones ever been prosecuted for photocopying their mates notes alhumdulillah, dont think the uni wastes its time at that level, otherwise there would be no students left.

You can't get prosecuted for copying notes off your freind who copied the notes off the professor giving the lecture nor is it cheating :smack:

I dont get it? You copy the notes given by your professor - you revise them notes regurgitate them in the exams and you get prosecuted?
Thats never happened to me before.

No but on occassions I have repeated sentences even paragraphs completely word for word and it has been marked by the very professor who gave those notes and its never been a problem or an issue at all.
Looool. yup yup, the professor marks the exam. :D

Its because students are such slow writers, and the lecture would take double the time then.:p
Aye, one of my lecturers said we're not allowed to make our own notes, cuz then we won't be paing close enough attention to the lecture.

Notes are not marked or handed in, they're mean't to be understood and memorised and regurgitated in the exam :)
