can you post this on the ummah website and email to confirm whom you know is certainly one importer whose water is indeed zam zam ?

His name Umarjee Paderwala and is based in Ilford. Phone number is:
020 8558 3987.

i have a question that has arisen regarding zam zam water being sent to uk. It has been brought to my atention that if you go with a group and cargo your zam zam water, the water in actual fact is ordered through agents in the uk whom have gained the water NOT from saudi but elsewhere,, ie the water is not zam zam.[/quote]
Wa Alaikum Salam WR WB.

Not quite correct.

There are agents who will export the goods on your behalf such as salah mats, dates and zam zam water. The proof of that is to mark the water cans and check when they arrive here.

You don't have to travel in a group to export your goods that way. You can be travelling alone or with friends or family. You need to check out the agents or look up the Saudi phone directory for export agents. A couple of them have offices on Shahrah Mansoor in Makka.

Some agents are actually contracted to importers in UK. Hence, they will take your money and order the pre-exported zam zam to be delivered to your home. This is faster method as no individual custom clearance is involved as the importers get container loads of 20 litre drums.

Whether the water is genuinely zam zam or not is something I cannot put my hand on my heart and confirm. I certainly know one importer whose water is indeed zam zam but there are other importers too.

As with other things, the biggest shock I always get is that in matter of Deen it is us muslims who con our fellow Ummatees. I am haj and umra agent but find it difficult to survive because of competition from cowboys who offer the world to innocent pilgrims seeking cheap packages.

Hence, it is not the jews, christians or hindus who trick us muslims but our own brethrens and same goes for deception in the supply of zam zam water which is unpure and also often un-hygenic as it could have been collected from anywhere in unwashed cannisters.

The sign of unpure zam zam is that within short time green algae will form on the bottom of the can.

I am sorry to have rambled on with my answer but I need to do justice to your very serious and real question.

Genuine Zam Zam water, which is sacred to Muslims, comes from a specific source in Saudi Arabia and cannot legally be exported from that country for commercial sale. Therefore, any product found in the shops would have an uncertain origin and could pose a safety risk.

Yes, I have read the report as above when it was released.

I also want to clarify here that I am, myself, not a purveyor of the Zam Zam water and only responded when I was asked my opinion by another brother.

There are three importers in UK of Zam Zam Water as well as Dates from Saudi Arabia. Whilst the government may well be restricting export of zam zam for commercial purpose, it does allow large scale pumping for Hujjajs and other local sellers.

The nearest place to fill up is between Bab al Fath Gate and Marwa end or literally in front of Sofitel Hotel. Here, the intention of the zam zam authority is for pilgrims to fill up but large queues are usually there of the street sellers filling up.

The commercial basis pumping station is located near the Cave/Mount Thour. From here the government itself exports water to Madina nd other cities as well as allow large scale filling by hoteliers and other consumers.

The importers of zam zam in UK apparently fill their supply from there under the pretext, most probably, for non commercial distribution. That may probably be the only way to get away with it or else money is changing hands under the table which is also an open secret. Corruption is well embedded in the official ministries.

I can only vouch for genuine zam zam from Umerji Paderwala who I know well. How he imports it into UK is something I have not made my business to know.

I honestly bleive Allah would never want it sold. That is the beauty of the pilgrimage, having your moment for the 1st time with Zam Zam. Let it be where it came from and let it stay there.

I share the sentiments here. However, those of you who have been to Makkah will know that it is next to impossible to get our turn to fill up the can if we go ourselves to Bab al Fath zam zam site.
I BUY my water by paying someone. Or I buy it off the from the street seller. That way I have time to devote to my worship in the Haram and a poor guy gets halal earning.

However, if the sentiments expressed here is related to the bulk export then that is different. In that, lots of Saudi Ofiicials are directly or indirectly involved knowingly that the water going abroad is NOT for the purpose of social distribution for who, in their right mind, incur huge cost of containers and shipping, to distribute that free?
