Lipstick worn to attract ones husband within the confines of ones own home is fine- with mahram males presnt also no probs. If applied but need to go outside than wipe away or insha'allah wear a Niqaab.
Pink fonts are pink fonts like green fonts are green fonts.

is lipstick haram
I'm not sure but personally I don't think it would make sense to dress modestly to not attract attension yet wear make-up that beautifies you, it is somewhat contradictory and goes againt the concept behind why we wear the islamic attire
is lipstick haram
salaam
depends on who, where, when and why.
who: a man cant be wearing lipstick cuz its imimtating women.
where/when: a woman cant be wearing it in front of nonmahrams. a woman could wear it in front of other women like at segragated weddings.
why: she could wear it in front of her hubby to look beautiful for him. not to look beautiful for another woman's man.
some of this stuff has been clarified on the first page i think but i hope it answers ur question :hidban:

Sorry gucci but make up does ruin ur face when ur older! No negs now, but as soon as u hit ur 40s u get all these pores from foundation and holes in ur face..its disgusting trust me, i saw ppl that are like that. no sister im serious. u hav to watch documentaries and stuff to know that there are women in their 50s with really nice skin mashallah because of the time and care they put into it in their 20s. this doesnt mean they stopped wearing make up.
u can not wear make up and also not moisturize and take care of ur face and u'll still end up with not so good skin wen ur older.
ps: i think no one is stupid in enough to sleep with makeup!

and by "someone who took perfectly good care of their skin and still got cancer...." i mean to say is u can go ahead and post as many links as u want about women with skin cancer and what not, but some factors arent taken into consideration that could have been leading causes of the cancer. what were the women's lifestyles? did they eat healthy? did they bother to take care of their skin or did they sleep in their make up? all these things are factors and have to be considered before coming to the conclusion: make up causes cancer
take ur time inshallah :D

Cosmetics and Breast Cancer - Is There a Connection?
By Ken Matto, D. Min.
A friend of mine e-mailed me with a reminder to buy the new Breast Cancer Postage stamps which help support research for Breast Cancer. As I was pondering that disease a theory returned into my mind and I want to offer it to my readers.
I am not a medical doctor so bear with me. Some years ago I was taken to the hospital for a pounding heart and the doctor told me that it was caffeine and they did not know why caffeine centralizes its negative effects on the heart.
I got to thinking that Breast Cancer may be caused on the same principle. Many years ago I was a Production Control Supervisor in a Flavors Company and we needed some materials for a batch of something. We had a sister company which manufactured fragrances for the cosmetic industry, so I went and picked up the material. While I was there I looked at a batch card which gave the ingredients of the product the operator was making and although I do not remember what the product was he was making, whether it was lipstick or something else, it doesn't matter. There was over 80 ingredients to that product he was making. That is 80 chemicals for one product.
Now consider this possibility. If there are 80 chemicals in that one product, that means when a woman puts that on her body, she now has 80 chemicals going into her skin. If she puts on Lipstick, Rouge, Perfume, Eyeliner, and uses hair dye, she may have 300-400 chemicals all attacking her body at one time.
Now as with the principle of the centralizing of the caffeine on the heart, where does the effects of many years of ingesting these chemicals through the skin go? It would not surprise me if they collected in the breasts. All those chemicals are attacking the cells and causing those cells to mutate and eventually creating cancer. Girls put make-up on when they are very young and this means they are being exposed to possible cancer causing chemicals from a very young age, which means the problems caused by make-up, will grow with them.
I don't know if anyone has ever researched the cosmetic industry. Shouldn't there be warning labels on cosmetics which contain cancer causing ingredients? If less make-up was used, the breast cancer rate would probably drop. There are billions of dollars at stake in the cosmetic industry and this is why they are probably a protected entity but they should be regulated with warnings like the tobacco industry. Cosmetics are not good for the proper function of the human body. Even natural cosmetics may contain products which are harmful.
What I did was, I sent my theory on to a friend of mine in Australia who is a General Surgeon. What he sent back to me on this subject astounded me.
Response by Dr. Andreas Lambrianides
General Surgeon
Brisbane Australia
Dear Ken,
Most cosmetics are "witches brews" of many known carcinogenic agents. No such information is usually disclosed to the public. There are two main types:
1. Frank carcinogens which are carcinogenic in themselves and
2. Hidden carcinogens which only become carcinogenic under certain conditions.
Over 40 carcinogens used in industry are Frank carcinogens, and over 30 are hidden carcinogens.
To answer your question, yes it is possible to cause cancer, as no one has actually studied that particular association. You need to carry out prospective randomized trials with groups using cosmetics and compare them with those that do not use them, and then work out if the differences are statistically significant. And yes they should carry warning labels.

When I sent this theory to Dr. Lambrianides, it was a theory, but after receiving his response, I am convinced that the cosmetic industry is traveling down the same road as the Tobacco companies did years ago, they are selling cancer with impunity. I think mothers and fathers need to give this information to their daughters before they start the poisoning of their bodies just to impress some boy. Think of all the poisons in lipstick and when it is worn on the lips, that poison is going into the mouth and is being disseminated throughout the entire body because right under the tongue is an area which dissolves food or pills at an accelerated rate for quick digestion.
I don’t want to scare anyone but this subject really needs to be investigated further by those who are qualified to do so. Speaking as a guy now if a woman wants to really look attractive, she doesn’t need to poison herself, all she needs to do is let her hair grow long and allow God’s natural gift of beauty to women shine through.

A word about makeup
by Vic Shayne, PhD
(Source: A Safety Assessment of Ingredients in Personal Care Products, from EWG's report Skin Deep, "Beautiful you: natural makeup goes high-end," by Anna Soref, Better Nutrition, February 1, 2005):
"As surprising as it may sound, the majority of cosmetic ingredients are not tested for safety, according to a study released by the nonprofit Environmental Working Group. Because the government does not monitor cosmetic companies, questionable ingredients creep into most makeup products.
"Although most cosmetics ingredients appear safe for use in the short term, long-term use could be deadly, says Kim Erickson, author of Drop-Dead Gorgeous (Contemporary Books, 2002). "Some cosmetic chemicals accumulate in the body's fatty tissues, where they can remain for years and damage your cells," she says. As an example, a study reported in the January 2004 edition of the Journal of Applied Toxicology found parabens, the most common cosmetic preservative, present in significant amounts in 18 out of 20 breast cancer tumors.
"The number of chemicals in a simple lipstick is astounding. In addition to phthalates (which can cause kidney and liver damage and harm a developing fetus), lipstick may contain the possible human carcinogens butylated hydroxytoluene, polyethylene, dimethicone and a slew of artificial colors derived from coal tar. And if you wear lipstick every day, you'll ingest at least 4 pounds of it over your lifetime."
There are many other things you can do to avoid toxins and their deadly effects, but this is a great start.

Benzophenone compounds (benzophenone-3, homosalate, and octy-methoxycinnamate), sometimes found in lipsticks and lip balms as well as sunscreens for UV protection, also cause concern. They can be irritating, and also, more troublingly, may mimic the hormone estrogen. In one study, estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells in test tubes multiplied when they were exposed to benzophenone-3, indicating that the substance was acting like estrogen. More recently, Dr. Margret Schlumpf of the University of Zurich's Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology has demonstrated that benzophenone disrupted hormones, affecting the development of the brain (particularly the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal system) and reproductive organs in laboratory rats. While research on this subject is preliminary, results suggest that benzophenone compounds have the potential to disrupt the endocrine system of people who use it. Their use in personal care products is particularly risky because studies show that they are readily absorbed by the skin. NIOSH's Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemcial Substances, moreover, describes benzophenone as a mutagen.

BUTYLATED HYDROXYANISOLE
BHA, BHT
Description
BHA is a chemical antioxidant used as a preservative in some edible fats and oils, fat- or oil-containing foods (e.g., baked goods, pork sausage), chewing gum, cosmetics, animal feed, food packaging, and in rubber and petroleum products.
Children can be exposed to BHA through a variety of processed foods.
BHA is related to a more widely used food preservative, BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene). BHT is not known to be an endocrine disruptor. Studies have not linked BHT to cancer conclusively.
Health Effects
Immediate Health Effects
If SWALLOWED, butylated hydroxyanisole is Moderately Toxic
If ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN, butylated hydroxyanisole is Not Available
If INHALED (SNIFFED OR BREATHED IN), butylated hydroxyanisole is Not Available
Longterm or Delayed Health Effects
Allergen
Suspected Endocrine Disruptor = May interfere with, mimic or block hormones
Other
In test animals, BHA has caused cancer in the forestomach. Humans do not have a forestomach, although the cause of any kind of tumors in animals is cause for concern.
In test tube studies, BHA has mimicked the hormonal actions of estrogen.
Repeated contact with skin may cause irritation and skin allergies/dermatitis.
How Exposures Occur
In Cosmetics
BHA may be absorbed through the skin from lipsticks, lip glosses, facial creams, eye shadows and mascaras that contain it as a preservative, or ingested from lipstick or lip gloss contact with foods and tongue.
In Foods
Children may ingest small quantities of BHA in some processed foods and snacks, such as chewing gum, dehydrated potatoes, potato chips, baked goods, dry-mix beverages and desserts, and dry breakfast cereals. However, BHA content is not permitted to exceed 0.02% of the total fat content of foods or 0.1% of chewing gum.
Significant Statistics
In a 1981 survey by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, BHA was reported to be used in 3,217 to 21,279 cosmetic formulations. In the majority (88%) of cases, the reported concentration was less than 0.1 percent. One product, a lipstick, was reported to contain more than 10 percent BHA. In this survey, lipsticks (1,256 products) represented the highest use of BHA, with eye shadows being the next highest (410 products).
