The Fluent Liar
I once knew a sister who lied her way through
She loved telling stories and thought no one else knew
This Sheikh, that Sheikh, blah blah blah
I’ve got so many Ijaza’s from near and far.
With other people’s emotions did she play
All this time she thought she could get away
A house built of sand is not a house built of bricks
It’s the same when your life is built of tricks.
Fame and status is what you sought
Selling your soul is how it was bought
Now you’ve been shamed and named a liar
But what’s worse is that you could earn the fire.
Don’t you know that Allah sees all?
From every lie big and every lie small?
It’s not that you lie that makes me cringe
It’s the fact you forgot the creator of all things.
Ruining others names is how you played your game
But they shouldn’t worry; Allah will clear their name
I have my own sins to carry on my back
In repentance is really what I don’t want to lack.
This poem is the reality of what you did
For you never understood it, you treat it like a kid.
For my enemy I wouldn’t wish the punishment of hell
Do you think that people want to see how you fell?
How you fell from the great big status of yours
Tell me now; was it worth it at all?
Don’t fool yourself and don’t lose your soul
Every Muslim knows that Jannah is our goal
We all make mistakes, some more than others
But we fall into trouble when we’re not too bothered.
You can victimise yourself - blame it on someone else
But remember…
You damn me not, you damn yourself.
