i ll try to translate for you innshallah, sheikh ibn uthaimeen said:
the right option for this subject is what sheikh ul islam ibn taimiah choose,
if there is a geat benefit for the muslims and islam then it is allowed, and he took his proof from the story of ''The boy and the King'' (to watch the video visit this site:)http://www.islamicvideos.net/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,81/Itemid,30/
the boy who lived under the command of the king who told people to worship him and claims to be God. and this boy used to make dawah to allah (missionary) so the king tried to kill him but unsuccessfully so the boy said if you want to kill me then take one of my spears after you have gotherd people around us and then say in the name of this boy's God, so when he did that he got killed and the people said God is the God of this boy and rejected the king as their God. so because of that person take their life away for the sake of islam

Martyrdom and suicide are not one and the same thing.
A lot of scholars say a lot of things. Just use your own
judgment in the light of Quran & life of prophet. If one
is unsure of something, one needs only to ask Allah for
guidance and they will find the answer. its just that
some people here just dont have the concept.

Suicide is haram in anyway, if its in good way or bad. For example: If someone gets interest money and gives it to the poor. Its haram without any doubt. So suicide bombing is also haram

This is what I believe , all suicides are 7aram especially like These New Jihadi Groups who claim to be Sunnis that Blow themselves up and mostly innocent people they are what is 7aram .
But When fighting ruthless tyrants like the IDF , i dont think any islamic scholars will have objections for the palistenians to defend themselves however possible .
what about settlers who take property?

IF they armed and attack palistenians they deserve what they get , if not You decide how it is to kill unarmed civilians .
Should we sink to their level ?

absolutely haram in Maliki & Shafi fiqh, infact Shaykh Bin Bayyah has said that any opinion other than this is an anomaly (shadhdh) and very weak (wahin) but also batil and bid'a dalāla.
And Allah Knows Best.

salam alaykum. no, we shouldn't. but at some point this issue will have to be resolved. when the Muslims retake it what happens to all the israelies? the israelis know that they're living on land they took by force.
i'm just wondering since i haven't yet found anything that can explain what happens in this situation where non-muslims take over muslim lands and ruthlessly displace Muslims.

what about suicide attacks like the japanese kamikazes where you used one unit to take out a bigger one as opposed to a useless disco or pizzeria?

Life is the most precious and sanctified thing in this world. That applies to our lives and others' lives. Islam teaches us to be preservers of life. As the al-Qur'an categorically teaches:
We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land, it would be as if he slew the whole people; and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our Apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land." [Qur'an 5:35] Let others figure out their own stance, but for us as Muslims, we must have respect for life in general, life of ourselves and of others, irrespective of faith, race and nationality.
well last time i saw this it was wrong now its right depends whose posting.

Ask one self who killed the boy? Who would be called the killer? Can we all agree that it was the king? Who killed the companion? It was not from his own sword. Who killed the bomber? The bomber killed himself. See the difference?
If I told my coworker that I would die if they shot me in the head and they did that, would it be a suicide? Of course not. Same for the boy. If I ran into my house engulfed in flames to save my family and I died, would I be listed as a suicide? Of course not. My purpose was to save my family, not to die. The purpose of the companion was to open the gates and defeat the kufr, not to just die. If he died in the process, then Alhamdulillah but that is up to Allah.
WHO took the lives of these men? Was is themselves? It was their enemies who ultimately killed them, not a detonator that they pressed with their own hand. These muslims were not afraid of dying regardless of the situation they faced. It is not the same as not being afraid to die and then ending one's own life.
Taking a weapon and running into the field of battle facing overwhelming odds is not the same as taking a weapon and using it on oneself in the hopes of taking out a few others. One does not know the exact moment that they will die, the other does because he is committing suicide, which is haram.
Sorry to come across harch but basically, we muslims have become cowards. Too afraid to actually face the enemy, butt some heads. Let's go out to the battlefield and die there instead of pushing some red button as we drive a pickup truck into a market. (I say this behind a computer screen in my office with the hopes that one day I will be a man.)

hahaha, listen bro/sis. The boy asked the king to kill him!!!! He wouldn't have been killed if not the boy asked him, and he did it for a benefit.
Should I give a bomb to my friend and then ask her to explode me, then I would say yes this is something different. Not suicide!

Not suicide!your sense of logic is a bit twisted intention to kill yourself is suicide however you dress it up.if its for a good cause or not its suicide.the distinction is not the willingness its the intention.i can recall a soldier in my regiment attacking a german machine gun post with a bannet no chance of survival in real terms but he realy ment to kill the machine gunner.if he had jumped up with handgrenade and detonated it the area of the gunner it would have been suicide, thats what they were called suicide missions.its your god that decides not me,i just hope he agrees with you because there are alot of muslims going to hell when they were convinced it was heaven.
who put martyrdom and in bracket suicide ?

Book 042, Number 7148:
Suhaib reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) thus said: There lived a king before you and he had a (court) magician. As he (the magician) grew old, he said to the king: I have grown old, send some young boy to me so that I should teach him magic. He (the king) sent to him a young man so that he should train him (in magic). And on his way (to the magician) he (the young man) found a monk sitting there. He (the young man) listened to his (the monk's) talk and was impressed by it. It became his habit that on his way to the magician he met the monk and set there and he came to the magician (late). He (the magician) beat him because of delay. He made a complaint of that to the monk and he said to him: When you feel afraid of the magician, say: Members of my family had detained me. And when you feel afraid of your family you should say: The magician had detained me. It so happened that there came a huge beast (of prey) and it blocked the way of the people, and he (the young boy) said: I will come to know today whether the magician is superior or the monk is superior. He picked up a stone and said: O Allah, if the affair of the monk is dearer to Thee than the affair of the magician, cause death to this animal so that the people should be able to move about freely. He threw that stone towards it and killed it and the people began to move about (on the path freely). He (the young man) then came to that monk and Informed him and the monk said: Sonny, today you are superior to me. Your affair has come to a stage where I find that you would be soon put to a trial, and in case you are put to a trial don't give my clue. That young man began to treat the blind and those suffering from leprosy and he in fact began to cure people from (all kinds) of illness. When a companion of the king who had gone blind heard about him, he came to him with numerous gifts and said: If you cure me all these things collected together here would be yours. Be said: I myself do not cure anyone. It is Allah Who cures and if you affirm faith in Allah, I shall also supplicate Allah to cure you.
He affirmed his faith in Allah and Allah cured him and he came to the king and sat by his side as he used to sit before. The king said to him: Who restored your eyesight? He said: My Lord. Thereupon he said: It means that your Lord is One besides me. He said: My Lord and your Lord is Allah, so he (the king) took hold of him and tormented him till he gave a clue of that boy. The young man was thus summoned and the king said to him: O boy, it has been conveyed to me that you have become so much proficient in your magic that you cure the blind and those suffering from leprosy and you do such and such things. Thereupon he said: I do not cure anyone; it is Allah Who cures, and he (the king) took hold of him and began to torment him. So he gave a clue of the monk. The monk was thus summoned and it was said to him: You should turn back from your religion. He, however, refused to do so. He (ordered) for a saw to be brought (and when it was done) he (the king) placed it in the middle of his head and tore it into parts till a part fell down. Then the courtier of the king was brought and it was said to him: Turn back from your religion. Arid he refused to do so, and the saw was placed in the midst of his head and it was torn till a part fell down. Then that young boy was brought and it was said to him: Turn back from your religion. He refused to do so and he was handed over to a group of his courtiers. And he 'said to them: Take him to such and such mountain; make him climb up that mountain and when you reach its top (ask him to renounce his faith) but if he refuses to do so, then throw him (down the mountain). So they took him and made him climb up the mountain and he said: O Allah, save me from them (in any way) Thou likest and the mountain began to quake and they all fell down and that person came walking to the king. The king said to him: What has happened to your companions? He said: Allah has saved me from them. He again handed him to some of his courtiers and said: Take him and carry him in a small boat and when you reach the middle of the ocean (ask him to renounce) his religion, but if he does not renounce his religion throw him (into the water).
So they took him and he said: O Allah, save me from them and what they want to do. It was quite soon that the boat turned over and they were drowned and he came walking to the king, and the king said to him: What has happened to your companions? He said: Allah has saved me from them, and he said to the king: You cannot kill me until you do what I ask you to do. And he said: What is that? He said: You should gather people in a plain and hang me by the trunk (of a tree). Then take hold of an arrow from the quiver and say: In the name of Allah, the Lord of the worlds; then shoot an arrow and if you do that then you would be able to kill me. So he (the king) called the people in an open plain and tied him (the boy) to the trunk of a tree, then he took hold of an arrow from his quiver and then placed the arrow in the bow and then said: In the name of Allah, the Lord of the young boy; he then shot an arrow and it bit his temple. He (the boy) placed his hands upon the temple where the arrow had bit him and he died and the people said: We affirm our faith in the Lord of this young man, we affirm our faith in the Lord of this young man, we affirm our faith in the Lord of this young man. The courtiers came to the king and it was said to him: Do you see that Allah has actually done what you aimed at averting. They (the people) have affirmed their faith in the Lord. He (the king) commanded ditches to be dug at important points in the path. When these ditches were dug, and the fire was lit in them it was said (to the people): He who would not turn back from his (boy's) religion would be thrown in the fire or it would be said to them to jump in that. (The people courted death but did not renounce religion) till a woman came with her child and she felt hesitant in jumping into the fire and the child said to her: 0 mother, endure (this ordeal) for it is the Truth.
(Sahih Muslim, Vol. 4, hadith No. 7148)
The king had already decided that he wanted to kill the boy. The boy just told the king how to get what he wanted. If I was being choked but the person was not able to kill me that way and I told him that if he wanted me dead that he should shoot me, did I commit suicide?
here's what suicide is: http://www.bartleby.com/61/7/S0870700.html
Can we get an Arabic grammartician here? What is the word that the Prophet used to forbid "suicide" and what does that word mean (of course with the understanding of how that word was understood in the time of the Prophet)?
Volume 2, Book 23, Number 445:
Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak:
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Whoever intentionally swears falsely by a religion other than Islam, then he is what he has said, (e.g. if he says, 'If such thing is not true then I am a Jew,' he is really a Jew). And whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the Hell Fire." Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."
Volume 8, Book 73, Number 73:
Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak:
(who was one of the companions who gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet underneath the tree (Al-Hudaibiya)) Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam (i.e. if somebody swears by saying that he is a non-Muslim e.g., a Jew or a Christian, etc.) in case he is telling a lie, he is really so if his oath is false, and a person is not bound to fulfill a vow about a thing which he does not possess. And if somebody commits suicide with anything in this world, he will be tortured with that very thing on the Day of Resurrection; And if somebody curses a believer, then his sin will be as if he murdered him; And whoever accuses a believer of Kufr (disbelief), then it is as if he killed him."

A Hadith must be understood with reference to the instance and occasion of the topic it records.
What was the occasion on which it was said?
What was the background in which it was said?
Who were the addressees?
If one does not address these questions in interpreting a Hadith, on many occasions one fails to get to the right interpretation.
Would you be kind enough to explain the hadith by answering the above questions?
