O nabi, I’d kiss the shoes that touch your feet.
O nafs, these words repulse you.
But it would be an honour to me,
For my lips to feel upon them,
The cool leather that was blessed enough,
To touch your feet.

O nabi, the dust beneath your shoes,
Was worth much more than me,
Purified by your presence and sinless unlike me.
Beneath the shade of your blessed feet,
That dust was stood upon by thee.

Ya Allah, to you belongs all glory,
Ya Allah, praised be thee,
Send peace on Your rasool,
And his family.

O nabi, would that I were as pure,
As the oil of the olive that dripped,
Onto your hand and was applied to your hair,
Glistening and nourishing,
The black locks which fell down to your ears,
Curly-straight and more beautiful than,
Any seen after or before.

O nabi, I long for your resplendent countenance,
How fortunate the sahabi who compared,
Your sublime face with the full moon,
Looking back and forth and exclaiming,
Nothing could outshine your radiance or beauty,
It’s light declaring your truth and worth.

Ya Allah, to you belongs all glory,
Ya Allah, praised be thee,
Send peace on Your rasool,
And his family.
