:) The precendent set by Rasulilah (Salallahu alahi wa salam), had the derived effect of reforming the conduct of the Sahabahs(Radiallahu anhum an ja’maeen), their conduct towards their families, they also displayed good love towards their wives. Once Abdullah ibn Umar(Radiallahu anhu) was away on a ghazwah(Jihad) on his journey to Madina, he was told that his wife had been ill .
He became so worried that he hastened to reach Madina and to save time off, he combined both his Magrib and Ishaai salaat together. Another incident happened with Imam Hassan ibn Ali ibn abi Talib(Radiallahu anhu).
Imam Hassan divorced his wife, when his wife came to know of his decision, she wept bitterly. The messenger came back to Imam Hassan and told him what happened to his divorced wife, he also burst into tears and said: “Had I not given the final and binding talaq(divoece) I would certainly reverse my decision and take her back as my lawful wife. Another account with Uthman ibn Affan and his wife Na’ila (Radiallahu anhum).
When he was murdered, she became very sad due to her sweet love for him and she even remained loyal to him even after his death and refrained from re-marrying again, so she picked up a stone and broke her front teeth. She swore in Allah’s name that never will another man take Uthman’s place. Muawiyan ibn Abi Sufyan(Radiallahu anhu) wanted to marry her so he proposed to Na’ila, and she only sent him her front teeth and said : “ Do you wish to marry such a bride and I think we can tell the end to the story. I also found something good that transpired between a wonderful Muslim, married couple, the husband said: “I do not recall that I ever once got angry with my wife or that she was even once annoyed with me. And if I had a headache, it was impossible for her to sleep until after I fell asleep.”
I frankly believe they are good lessons for us to take from such stories as well as to make amends where they made mistakes and where they handled their affairs in an honorable way, we emulate them ok?
