Well they may have different surnames now (taken from their occupations usually), but people from the subcontinent always keep track of their real family names.

And many people will only marry others of that name, alot of Sheikhs only wanna marry other sheikhs, alot of patels only want to marry other patels, etc. But ofcourse there's many people who realise this is all totally dumb and irrelevent.

But with Khatris I don't know of any who have married non-Khatris, ofcourse there prolly are some, but I ain't met any!
