usually those who have nothing to do in the day time like to sleep late enjoying things as tv ... , net and other pleasures . but people like me can't offer to do so since we are at work by 6.30 am . secondly sleep in first half of the night is rejuvenating compared to later part of night ...
since you are grown up you can chart your own programme and yet continue to enjoy blessings and nemah inshaallah ...:)

if anyone says they find it easy to get up for fajr i'd be surprised. but thats part of our own personal jihad isn't it?
I feel wide awake when it's time for sleep and I feel very sleepy when I wake up:o

Ok, if you really have a problem try some/all (depending on desperation) of these:
1. I know it's obvious but try, in a dark room, close your eyes and don't open them even if your tempted. I wonder why I can't fall asleep and I realise my eyes are open
2. Put a eye mask thingy on
3. Come to my biology or chemistry lessons. Works wonders.
4. Do somthing really naughty and listen to your parents/spouse lecture you. Don't listen to them, concentrate on their lips moving.
5. Yoga. You need to get all the blood to your head for a good sleep, I'll leave how you go about doing that to the imagination. I've found that rope helps with some of the positions.
I have hundreds more, if none of these work lemme know I'l giv u sum
laters
Seriously we should only sleep as much as we need (should never ever be more then 8 hours)
Suleyman (as) according to the Ahl-e-Kitab is reported to have said:
How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep—
So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.
This blasts the notion of lazy sleep. Suleyman (as) didnt become the Richest Man on Earth and the chosen Caliph of Allah, by sleeping ;)
Even if you take the above with a pinch of salt and some discretion, Allah (swt) says in Surah Al-Muzzamil
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! Rise to pray in the night except a little,
Half of it, or lessen it a little,
Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited.
Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word.
Indeed the rising by night is most effective as a discipline, and most suitable for receptivity to the word.

seelping more than 8 hours, but I love sleeping:rolleyes: I am going to bed now, I remember I was tired.. I am still now, Salam Alikum
I advice you to sleep, cuz when u wake up for fajr u wont be focused on the prayer:rubeyes:
i cant go to sleep till late at night..
but wake up early..
then the tiredness kiks in at 6pm..
Its bed if you go to bed early and take care that you dont take anything that contains caffeine in it especially any tea/coffee or soda.
Sleep early, rise early, wake up with your hair curly, pray nicely,go to work happily and enjoy your day fairly InshAllah.

In the name of Allah, The Restorer of Life, The Protective
Hmm, its 4:26am here and I cant get to sleep at all, its been like this for the last 2 days..
Im tired but the sleep isnt coming, and theres like only 1 hour left till fajr so no point going sleep. In UK, I was used to sleeping late but like thats cos I chose to, here I'm not choosing to not go sleep.
Anyone know anything I could do? Or why does this happen? Im thinking of getting someone to spike my tea so I just get knocked out..
where are you at now akii?
am in uk and cant sleep its 2.46am but i have a reason i woke up at 4pm today (dont ask long story had a busy saturday nite)
there are times when i cant sleep, i try everything but still cant, that happens when i get my sleep pattern mixed up. so what i do is ride it out stay awake fully without tryna sleep the nite i can not sleep, i stay awake till the new day is born then tho i get tired mid afternoon i ride it out and stay awake and as soon as i pray isha i sleep like a baby. and voila my sleep patterns back. Because i end up waking up at a normal hour. and sleep at a normal hour.
dhikr with duvet ova head helps many 2 fall asleep. the idea is to get ur mind working with a combination of imagination and concentration. kinda like counting sheep. inorder for it 2 work u have 2 count the sheep which makes u concentrate at the same time imagine/picture them.
do the same thing with dhikr. imagine something which keeps ur consentration going at the same time. if u cant do it with dhikr do it reading, read and imagine what ur reading slowly u will fall asleep. Inshahallah.

Al'aan [now] Im in the land where Yusuf AS was thrown into prison in and which he consequently became the treasurer of..
Jazak'Allah hu khairan ukthee, thing is, I do the dhikr thing to sleep everyday as it is, and I just tried it for 2 hours, wasnt getting no where..
Maybe it is the sleep pattern mashed cos I didnt get any sleep at all 3 days ago and then zonked out, but usually in UK, one day mashed up pattern and then one looong overdose of sleep does the job, hmm, Allahu alim
I just heard the adhan, so least its fajr here, will see if Im able to get some after fajr insha'Allah.
Bro if you dont get sleep. so you just start reading any books or newspaper enshallah automatically you will feel to go sleep... or some time slow type music also help for sleeping. (I do this things if I dont get sleep .

If you want to stay awake, here's an old trucker's trick(taught to me by an old trucker but that's a whole other story :D)
Take your shoes and socks off and wet your feet. Don't dry them. If your feet are cold, you won't be able to fall asleep until you are absolutely 100% exhausted and even then, your sleep will be fitfull
I am awake now -I slept before beacause the paracetamol I took for my headache made me sleep. Now I am awake and not tired enough to fall asleep easily :(
I have managed to complete the powerpoint presentation I was working on though :)

I had this problem a lot given my incredibly hectic schedule (I sleep 4 hours on average). I read a report about the sleep/diet/exercise balance.
Essentially, your body 'needs' 2 hours of sleep, and can survive on that amount IF you correct other habits. Meaning, sleep, diet and exercise are three distinct human needs, so if you are not sleeping the traditional 8 hours then you need to eat more (not in one meal, but more often) meaning you should have about 6 meals a day. You should eat small 'snacks' for three of the meals like peanuts, or vegetables (not carrots too high sugar level), a few dates, a small chocolate bar, a few crisps etc. Also, you should make sure that you do not eat at least 3 hours before you go to sleep, as TOO much food will make you MORE sleepy. With respect to exercise, try to work out early in the morning (by workout I mean a few stretches, sit-ups, jumping jacks, or whatever else can be done in your own room). IF you feel sleepy (usually around 2-3PM for me, just do a small exercise routine, which will get your blood flowing and you should be fine).
I don't drink any coffee or tea. But, at night before I go to sleep I have chinese tea, which helps calm me down, AND I drink a kettle full so it makes sure that I wake up in the morning, LOL!
