“ The Qur’an tell the Muslims to kill the unbelievers wherever they find them” (Q; 2:191), that’s an example of what a non Muslim read at some anti Islamic sites that is promoting such attacks, defamation and degrading this religion, under the concept of adopting freedom of faith. I was shocked to read this bit of information, specially that it has a reference (Q; 2:191), so I went back to the Qur’an to study and check the credibility of what these sites post against Islam and Prophet Muhammad. I found the truth. The truth is that those who built this site built it with severe intention of harming the image of Islam and creating more and more enemies to it everyday. Unfortunately I have to say they’re doing well in that direction, but I will NOT stand still and watch them mislead non Muslims to increase their hate to this religion and considering it a religion of hate and aggression and intolerance. I hope you allow me to show you why I say that these websites are not credible and infact they’re misleading. The verse they referred to from which they based their mentioned judgment on the teachings of the Qur’an states:
“And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.” [2.191]
Here you see that they chose only a small phrase out of the whole verse, which serves their objective of showing Islam as a religion of aggression and terrorism. I will show you the true context of this verse so you’ll see the full picture of what the Qur’an really teach and then judge for yourself:
“And fight in the way of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits.
And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from where they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers. But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors. The Sacred month for the sacred month and all sacred things are (under the law of) retaliation; whoever then acts aggressively against you, inflict injury on him according to the injury he has inflicted on you and be careful (of your duty) to Allah and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).[2. 190:194]
Does this seem like teachings of justice and dignity, or teachings of terrorism and aggression and intolerance? Think … and then ask yourself:
Why did they refer only to a small part of one verse out of this context and left the rest of the context? Simply cuz they know that you as a non Muslim don’t have enough materials about the real Islam to doubt what they’re telling you, so they wanted to give you only what is necessary for you to hate this religion and faith. It is quite obvious here that we’re only asked to kill the unbelievers who attack and fight us, and that we should not be transgressors or exceed the limits. It is also obvious that the fighting here is aimed to resist and put an end to the persecution of the Muslims on the hands of the unbelievers. These websites are evil and use misleading and unethical methods to create hate towards this religion of truth, justice and tolerance.
To make things clear once and for all, Islam has nothing to do with terrorism and what happened in 9 11 in the WTC, and same applies to suicide bombings against non-militant civilians in Israel, and my reference is what Allah said in His final message of truth to humanity, the Qur’an:
“Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand retaliation or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life, for he is helped (by the Law)” [17:33]
Based on this verse, it is Islamically unlawful to murder anyone who is innocent of certain crimes. When one of those who are confused about the actions of Al Quaaeda network says that the Palestinian cause is a just cause to justify what happened, since the enormous numbers of Palestinian civilians has been slain wrongfully on the hands of the Israeli settlers and the IDF, and the same verse shows that Allah gave authority to their heirs to either retaliate of to forgive. I will ask him to remember that God asked them as well not to exceed bounds in the matter of taking life. I remind him as well with the main core of combatant Jihad or struggle: “And fight in the cause of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits” [2: 190]
I hope things are clear to non muslims now about Islam, the religion of justice and peace.
Remember, peace can not prevail if justice is undone.
May God bless those who sincerely seek His guidance
