It's that time of the year again......the much anticipated, dare
we say legendary Islam Awareness Week is back!
Starting on the 19th - 23rd February 2006 it's the return of
Islam Awareness Week, there will be many activities taking place in the
Students' Guild Hall, with each day providing a new dimension of Islam.
After the fun packed adventures and highly informative Islam Awareness
Week last year, the Islamic Society members have managed to pick
themselves up, brush themselves down, ready for another week full of
everything you can imagine and more!!
This years Islam Awareness Week is BIGGER, BETTER and most
importantly will still have an assortment of FREE (students take notice,
yes FREE) snacks & refreshments on offer. We understand that you're all
extremely busy, so we have tried to base this years events/activities
around everyone's busy schedules. We have ensured that we have at least
1 talk EVERYDAY, ensuring that everyone gets an opportunity to listen to
the great talks on offer.
For those of you who have questions regarding Islam in general
then worry not. On Monday 19th February we will open this years event
with a talk entitled "A Beginners guide to Islam". Then on Tuesday,
"Women in Islam" will be the topic of discussion, with both a talk and
women's only workshop on offer. Lets face it guys, we all have
misconceptions about this topic, so please come down to discuss any
issues you may have.
Jesus, 'the prophet of Islam' will be the title of the lecture
on Wednesday. This will be deleiverd by Shaykh Shady al-Sulaiman who
will be flying over all the way from AUSTRALIA!
We will have a special guest joining us on Thursday, former
Guantanamo detainee Moazzam Begg will be delivering a talk on the topic
of "Human Rights" - definitely a day not to be missed!
Now for the finale. I'm sure you're all wondering about what
more we could have on offer, so let us not keep you guessing any longer.
Starting off, we will be providing the regular Friday prayers. This will
then be followed by a talk on "The Day of Judgement and Afterlife"
something which is a reality for all humans! This will be at 4pm, to
conclude the evening and wrap up the week long event, there will be a
dinner provided to all! What else could be better than to tuck into a
plate of Biryani with Chutney, followed by a nice cup of tea!
** Exhibitions will be on display all week in the Guild Hall
(Students Guild) **
Surely a week not to be missed!!!
Please email contact@astonisoc.co.uk for any further enquiries
you may have.
