sorry if this has been posted before!
YOUR OWN WCD EVENT INYOUR AREA
I’ll give you a brief over view of what the event could include and how Save Chechnya Campaign could help you with it.
1. Date- The event does not need to be held on the 23rd of Feb (Fri). Any day near or around this time would be appropriate.
2. Speeches-
We have some pre-written speeches, which could be read out by a Uni academic, Local MP, influential person, or anyone who you think maybe suitable.
3. Film Showing- We have a range of excellent documentaries (DVD format) which can be sent free of charge, (Recommendation- ‘Chechen lullaby’ and ‘Chechnya- The Dirty War’.)
4. Book Sale- We can provide you with 2 books:
- The Oath- By Dr Khassan Baiev- An excellent first hand account written by a Chechen surgeon amidst the Chechen/Russian war.
- Open Wounds- By Stanley Greene- A collection of award winning
photographs of Chechnya during the war, taken by American War Documentary photographer- Stanley Greene.
-Leaflets are available for distribution.
5. Merchandise- We have Chechen Flag Badges (free) and Wristbands (£1) available for fundraising.
The event does not need to be big, it doesn’t have to include all of the above, even just a film showing with a few speeches is adequate however the bigger the better! As long as you are able to raise some awareness and maybe get some publicity in there, its great.
