salams,
I'm currently studying in the biomedical field and aspires to become a scientist one day. insyallah. But as I learnt more, I realized that there are aspects which may go against the boundaries of Islam. There is a lot of issue that I'm uncertain about. I would have asked my lecturers if there was any Muslim lecturer teaching in my institute but it's fair to say that muslims are a minority in the life sciences here.
Firstly, the use and killing of animals like mice in experiments and learning purposes. Eg. Animal testing. Stem cell research is also becoming a major area in the life sciences and there are many ethical issues. What are Islam views on these? And are there any hadiths which could tell me what are considered HARAM in Islam.
Your help is appreciated. Thank you.
