Thats because you are an american, now I ve been told its very un-American to consider Olympics dumb. Where is the entertainment in the stupidity of skiing off a giant jump to see how far one can go ? :rolleyes:

What's wrong with competing in sports? It's one thing to call it haram due to women participating and their attire, but do explain how competing in sports is a dumb idea...

Sis i think the point he was making is that the whole competition (olympics) itself is pointless. Also there are some risks to these kinds of competitions, like he said skiing off snowy slopes, you could break your bones, mash up your face etc.
The thing i hate about olympics is the gymnists, why is it neccessay for them to dance with their hands up in their air and move their body in weird angles, and im not talking about the flips, they kind of stand in one place and move their hips and wave their arms in the air.

ok, hockey is a real sport and deserves to be in Olympics. But stuff like Curling, where one team member slides along a sheet of ice gripping a 40-pound stone. That person then releases the stone toward a target painted on the other side of the ice sheet. Other team members sweep the ice in order to make the rock slide faster or slower. Thats it!!! and you get a gold medal for that :rolleyes:

Nothing wrong with competing, at least compete something which well deserves a gold medal :smack:

because ocassionally people fall over/cause an avalance/do a blow off... funny things like that. you watch it for the knowledge that one of them will mess up tremendously and it will be hilarious.

thats why i stopped watching formula 1: the crashes were getting very rubbish, they need more richard hammond from top gear moments in every race. now thats entertainment :up:

Here in BC there is a backlash against the excesses of the olympics. We have problems with our healthcare, huge problems with drug addiction in Vancouver and other social ills that the Liberals are just throwing token amounts at meanwhile, we in the interior have to pay for it while getting absolutely 0 payback. Vancouver wants the olympics, let them pay for it.
Now I am a fan of amateur sports but this irritates me almost as much as professional athletes getting payed obscene amounts of money to play what amounts to a kids game
