Well I have a new maroon, golden shalwar kameez for eid. Its almost full with embroidary, but I had to wear it on some occasion, its simple sewn, like ab samajh jao kaise samjhao. About makeup dont know I aint good in makeup and all. Probably will ask my sis, or just an eyeliner and lipstick. Hairstyle since my hair is quite long I never can make a proper one :( so probably will just let it open. Cooking I cant cook anything so momsy is probably gonna make something sweet.

I don't cook on eid, I have two bhaabis :D ......but I help!

I will likely spend this Eid in my appartment reading this forum, as i am the only muslim in my family, and i have no plans to go any where, but i did manage to get a new hijab for Eid, i dont know wether to wear the pink one or the mauve one, hmmmmmm. i might take my self out to a halal resturant for dinner if i can find one thats open.

I am not sure if i should post on this thread seems to girly :D. Well as the question was asked...i am going to wear something simple...like jeans and a shirt...as for jewlry...i have a big gold chain that i wear...along with a big wristbang. It goes really well with my 4 rings...and yeah...da beanie...have to wear that one for sure...:).

On a serious note...i will be busy on eid as i have to go and set up the prayer area with a marquee and the jumping castle....but i think some pro's will come and set it up for us. Then i will have to help with the BBQ that the community is having...We are having eid prayer in a park right near the beach...should be good.

As for pressies i get none this year...our family isn't that big on pressies...but me and my bro the last couple of years bought big pressies for everyone...so this year is our year of.

As for you ladies deciding what to wear...i will give some advice...KIS...Keep it simple.

Sis Amina...it is sad that you have no one to celebrate eid with...Inshallah you will find someone real soon to celibrate with...there must be a community close by somewhere. And sis...considering that i have eid a day ahead of you all i will probably be on the day you are having eid :).

its not that easy when you are not invited to go to some 1's home, i do have my cat with me and i haave Allah, some thing may come up, if not, then i can spend the day browsing this forum, or i can do ma hair in funky styles. i havent curled or crimped ma hair in agescuz ive been wearing hijab for 5 1/2 years. some thing will come up this year. just now i got pm'd on my MSN and i was invited to a SISTERS only Eid party on Friday. kewl eh? us canadians say eh a lot eh.

Nam you're a nutter :D Please tell me you're not really wearing gold??? Hehehehe...of course you're not...right?

Subhanullah that you get to spend Eid at the mosque. Eid day our prayers are answered, inshaa Allah, yet we go out to the cinema, bowling, and all that palava, when we should be at home in prayer.

I haven't brought or made my Eid clothes this time. Didn't have the time, money or energy, so will wear one i made this time last year. A chinese style kameez and trousers. Even made the frogs (chinese buttons) myself out of silver ribbon. Putting on the finishing touches is always the best part :D Hair, umm, will keep my hijaab on. My bro-in-laws are dizzy and don't always knock when we have a get together. No make up, just lip balm. No point in a necklace as my dress has a chinese collar. Probably will wear the one real gold ring I own. I usually make a BIG pan of rice, chicken salun, spicy chops (own secret recipe;)) dai buleh (sp?) trifle and cake. I always get carried away, and whilst we share out dishes to be made, i always over do it :D

Sis Amina if you lived near me there is NO WAY I'd let you spend Eid alone. But as you don't, pray much.

Eid isn't that great or fun here (in columbia). It's a dreadfully dull holiday and most Muslims skip the celebration. I have two classes on Eid that will either fall on Thursday or Friday and I have no plans to celebrate Eid, as I will be too busy with studies. It's a pity that Eid isnt a well known holiday in most USA cities. Eid is nice in New York, Chicago or L.A but it is daft in regular cities. It's also a pity, when my mum tells me how nice Eid is in India, how it is rather festive and joyous. Has anyone of you celebrated Eid in a Muslim country? I never have, but I would like to oneday, God willing.

Assalamulaikom,
Bro nam I will remember ur advice and try keeping it simple, wasnt overdoing it anyways, and hey u dont understand urdu I thought u were a desi.
Sis rukaya basically what we were talking about was that there r so many desis in the house and our clothes, hair etc.
Amina sis wish u were near to my place, we would have a wonderfull time then. But inshallah hope u have a great eid, and hey maybe u could visit ur dad, u always say u miss him.
Sis Bisma I dont know what is exactly in these days, I think trouser type shalwar kamez. Short shirts with zipper r also maybe still in, I went last year to pakistan and this was the fasion then.Or try a sari am sure its gonna suite u.
I have celebrated eid in Pakistan and its a lot more different then here, also enjoy it very much with relatives and family.

salam again,
hmmm forgot to answer bro peter , true eid is something to do with thanking Allah, helping poor and loving ur family :) but that is something v should do all the time not only in ramadan or Eid and one should not show it to otherz or brag coz Allah knows wut good deeds v do rite?.. and regarding clothes, makeup thats ones wish,Women can put on makeup or can dress trendy but in limits and pardah according to Islam.. so help those who need ur help , look for poor pray and thank Allah who has bless u with a wonderfull Family and enjoy Eid.. :)

I don't know what I will wear. I guess I will wear what I normally wear. My wordrobe(sp?) consists of four pairs of khaki pants, and 5 button up shirts with collars(short sleeved, 1 green plaid, 1 red plaid, 2 light blue, 1 blue/white/yellow plaid). So a pretty small wordrobe, so i guess i will just wear what i normally wear inshallah.

As for food I don't know it depends. I'm in the process of finding out whether I can go to a distant relative's house(shes my step dad's mom's niece), she is married to a Muslim man named Hussein and have a son close to my age named Abraham, so I could mayeb eat there. Seeing as I'm a convert and my immediate family are non-Muslim. It's almost an hour's drive from here though, so i will prolly go to Eid prayers at a Mosque down there(im in Conroe, north of houston, they live in Houston).

So i will go to eid prayers at a mosque, and eat dinner with these people(maybe). Otherwise i will just go to eid prayers at the local mosque, and i guess maybe have my mother get me a pizza or something.

you celebrate eid upon the minhaj of bidah
wat happened 2 khimar n jilbab?????? u have rukhsah for eid/???
r u all 5 year old kids or mentally retarded adults?
the way 2 celebrate eid is 2 do ibada n think about the affairs of the ummah not 2 go aroud dressed like kaafirs
eid was used 2 celebrate the muslim victories during ramadaan

Oh be happy brother/sister. You are lucky, you have atleast family, some people are gonna feel lonely because they don't have any family around. Say Alhamdulilah dear, you are blessed, :)

I wish if we could all celebrate it together too, :)
