Assalamu Aleykum,

What's the significance of Umra?

If you have been on Hajj do you still have to go to Umra? or does it make sense to?

Thanks

The rites you preform in Umrah are also part of Hajj, such as Tawaf (moving around the Ka'ba) and Sai (going between the Safa and Marwa). Thus it is good preperation before going to Hajj if done alone, however lots of people combine both the Umrah and Hajj.

Umrah is a great alternative if you have already completed Hajj once or as preparation before going to Hajj. Hajj is often very difficult while Umrah is more relaxing and enjoyable. Umrah can be done at anytime of the year, but the best time is during the last 10 days of Ramadan (it counts as doing a Hajj with the Prophet :saw:). People tend to it once every 5 years if they can and I at, 13, found it to be the best expierence in my life. Al-Hamdu lil'Allah.

Assalamu Aleykum,

Walaykumsalaam.

What's the significance of Umra?

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "(The performance of) 'Umra is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari)

If you have been on Hajj do you still have to go to Umra?

Performing just Umra is optional, performing Hajj is obligatory.
